WEll, my story...I have Polycystic Ovarian Snydrome and was told I'm infertile and the only possible way for me to have children would be to lose a significant amount of weight. That's fine to say but because of the PCOS weight loss is not happening. I try and try and have continued to gain weight at an alarming rate. So my endocronologist recommends gastric bypass. I think about it for a very long time and try to lose weight on my own again...Gained 50 more pounds. At this point I have to persue surgery to ever have a chance of having children because my health is getting worse with every pound I am putting on and my chances of having children are getting worse month by month. I began the process and had my surgery in September of 2007. April is my 6 month doctor's appointment and I am down 90 pounds, my blood pressure is normalized and off the meds, and my cholesterol is back to normal numbers as well. It just amazes me to realize that so many things are affected by weight. As far as children I will always suffer from PCOS because there is no cure for it, but because of my significant weight loss I am on 4 months straight with ovulation where I was going months and months to years without this before...WOO HOO!!! I am so grateful to my family and friends that have supported me through this process I still have weight to go, but my main goal wasn't to be a skinny minnie...it wasn't for vain reasons, it was for my health and mainly to be able to become a mother.
