I am a 36 years old and have been dealing with being overweight since I was in jr. high. I am married with three kids. I am going through the process of being qualified for the lap band. I am going through UC Davis and at this time I have completed my imformational meeting and I have submitted my medical history and work sheets to the doctor for his review. I am waiting to set my appointment for my initial meeting with the doctor. Prior to this I had been waiting for David Grant to set up a orientation class for me since Sept. 07 only to find out in Dec. 07 that they do not do or cover for the Lap Band
. In Jan 08, Nurse Frazier
, from David Grant Bariatric program, was nice enough to call me and let me know that Tricare is now covering the Lap band surgery. They do not do the procedure at David Grant, so that is why I needed to be referred out to UC Davis.
I am praying that the lap band is the tool that I need to help me to control my portions, so that I can finally get down to a healthy wt.
