My name is Tanya, I am a 50 years old, and single mom. I have been coming to the website for a few years reading the message board. It has been wonderful reading other people stories, my story is I have been overweight most of my life. When I was a teenager around the age of 17 I lost about a hundred pounds, I went from size 18/20 to size 7/8. I didn't do anything special to loss the weight, however I do remember it was the same time we moved to a new town, I changed school, made new friends, and did a lot of walking friend’s houses and to the baseball park. Of course as things usually go, over the course of several years I gained the weight back and then some. I currently weight 260, and wear a size 22.  My highest weight was 284, size 26.  I have high blood pressure, diabetes, high chorolestol.  I have gone back and forth with the decision to have gastric bypass.  One day I am happy and excited, and then the next day I think of the risks of complications.  I have seen people who have had this surgery, some look healthy and then there are others who look unhealthy.

I am scheduled to have surgery Dec. 18th, Trinity Hospital , Dr Scott Pennington. I am frighten and pray I have not made the wrong decision, or better yet pray I have made the right decision.  I guess it all depends on whether I want to look at my glass as half empty or half full.
