I was always a "heavy" kid. I did lose some weight after moving out on my own. Once married just thought I could eat what he did and I just kept gaining weight. With the birth of my daughter I gained more weight. After finding out that I had Type 2, it became more difficult to lose weight. It was like it was stuck to me.
My heaviest I was just about 250 lbs. With my height at 5'2" I couldn't do much. I look at pictures now and I have no face, just a blob of fat.
When the doctor told me that the oral medication wasn't affective any longer and that I would have to go on insulin it was time for a change. So than I started the WLS avenue.
I remember the pre-surgery diet. I didn't even lose 5 lbs. I did everything that the surgeon told me too. So I try to see that I really needed this surgery. Surgery day I was 222 lbs. About two weeks out of surgery I developed an alcer. OH BOY! my downward slide. I was in and out of the ER 8 or 9 times within 3 months. I was hospitalized two different times. One of them I was so sick that they had to fed me by TPN. I couldn't handle the protein drinks and to this day cant. I get all my protein from food products.
It have been a journey. I still get very tired, I have lost over a 100 lbs., I am going back to college right now. Things are getting better every day. My mom is my strength and my everything. Thank you for all you did for me this last year.
