(JANUARY 2005) We made it to Dr Burrowes on Jan 13 and really liked him. He explains everything really good and seems like a good doctor. We watched a video of the surgery and I realized that this is MAJOR surgery not something to do unless you really have alot of weight to loose and for health reasons. I got really nervous thinking about if something went wrong and I wasnt here for my family anymore, but I know if my weight stays like this, I might not be here for them anyway. So I guess I need to pray Aetna will say YES. (FEBRUARY 2005) Me and Lee both went to Atlanta on Feb 5th for our Psyc evaluation with Dr Walfish (just incase they ask for it) and I guess we are both OK or "sane" enough to have the surgery. And we also went to one of the support group meetings that Dr Burrowes requires while we were there. Made apt with Dietician and went for first visit. I guess we are on our way as long as we dont have any problems. (MARCH 2005) Well its March already, and i am still working on my "multidisciplinary regimen". It seems like such a waste of time to do this. But I guess whatever Aetna wants. March 24th We went to Dr. Burrowes and he told us that we dont have to come back until after approval, for pre-op. Now just have to finish up with the dietician. We're getting there. (APRIL 2005) We are on our way, Dr Burrowes should be sending our papers off this month, I think. I really hope everything goes good, so I can have surgery done this summer, while my kids are out of school. They are old enough to be a big help, if they are home. April 27th: I go for my sleep study tonight, and Dr Burrowes office faxed my papers to Aetna today. !!! April 29th: I called Aetna today, just because I couldn't wait, they said that my papers are in image, which means they did get them, but they have not been asigned to a worker yet!!! (MAY 2005) 5-2-05 - I called Aetna agian this morning, I am pending !!! 5-3-05 - Aetna said there should be a decision today !!! ((((((((((APPROVED)))))))))) 5-3-05 Aetna approved my surgery !!! Dr Burrowes office called me with a surgery date of May 31st. Now I am really nervous. I have a pre-op with Dr Burrowes on May 19th and surgery on the 31st. & Lee's papers should be sent off soon for approval !!! (JUNE 2005) 6-11-05 I guess I am doing OK since surgery. I am just still sore and can't do very much, but OK. It seams funny to get full so quick. I cant remember ever eating such a small amount. Lee got approved,His surgery will be on July 11th, He is working on his pre-op testing right now. Our anniversery is June 15th (9 years today)and I went for my 2 week post op and have lost 25 lbs in just 2 weeks. more than I expected.I weighed 341 and now 316. (JULY 2005) Well I was down to 304. I have lost 37 lbs in about the first 4 to 5 weeks. I have got to start getting more protein. Lee found out he has gall stones, so he will have his gallbladder taken out during his surgery. 7-14 Lee is still in the hospital, in ICU. He had some complications and had to have a scond surgery and they found a blood clot and removed it. I think he is ok now and will go to a regular room today. Hopefully he will come home tomarrow. It really scared me when they said he needed another surgery. ok, he is home and everything is ok now. I am doing ok except I am having problems with protein. I hate all the powders, they make me gag and I am trying to find some kind to take. I had a few protein bars that I was able to eat, it just took me an hour to eat one bar. I dont really like them, but I was able to tolerate it. I really hope that gets better. I dont know what happens if you dont get enough protein. 7-26 I have lost about 46 lbs now. Its been almost 2 months. I think that is too slow but I guess its better than not loosing. I guess everything is going ok except I still cant get in enough protein. Lee has lost 40 lbs already, his surgery was only 2 1/2 weeks ago. Today is my birthday, I am 33 and its also been exactly 2 months since my surgery and I finally lost my first 50 pounds. Lee's Birthday was yesterday too. We were good and didnt have any Birthday cake but I think I could have eaten a whole one by myself. (AUGUST 2005) I cant believe I lost 50 lbs in the 1st 2 months. We joined the Y today so I will try to start getting some exercise and mabe I will keep loosing good. My clothes fit better and some have got too big, but I really cant tell much difference just looking at me. 8-10 We both had to go to Dr Burrowes today. He said everything is going fine and we dont have to go back until December. I guess we are lucky, we really didn't have any complications except for Lee's bloodclot and Dr Burrowes caught that before it did any damage. I think we have a great doctor and Lee could really have had a bad time if Dr Burrowes had not stayed at the hospital late one night and found out what was causing his problems. 8-26 Me & Lee are going to Biloxi for the weekend, We have not been anywhere in a while and we need to get away for the weekend. The hurricane is coming, but the bad weather is not suspose to start till Monday, and we are leaving Sunday morning. 8-29 We had a good time in Biloxi. We went to Treasure Bay Casino, went to the beach, went swimming and the weather was nice all weekend, but we left just in time. The hurricane was really bad, I really feel bad for all the people who lost family members, homes, and jobs. (SEPTEMBER 2005) 9-3 My son just turned 17 today, and I guess I am OLD. 9-18 I have lost 74 pounds and can eat a little better. I dont get sick as often. We went to Six Flags this weekend and I rode 2 roller coasters and some other rides.I walked all day and lost a few pounds. (OCTOBER 2005) 10-2 I have lost 80 pounds in the 4 months since my surgery. !!! 10-31 I only lost 10 pounds this month. I guess that is ok, a total of 90 !!! (NOVEMBER 2005) This was a hard month, all the Thanksgiving food, and the cooking. I think I did ok but I did eat a few things that I shouldn't have. (DECEMBER 2005) The weight loss has slowed down, but I have lost 110 and want to loose about 90 more. I hope that is possible. I am wearing a 18/20 and started in a 26/28. I really feel alot better. (JANUARY 2006) I am so thankful to be starting this year off over 100 pounds lighter and feeling better. I just thank the lord for letting us have this surgery, Lee has lost about 80 pounds and only wants to loose mabe 20 more. I need to loose about 90 more. But we feel so much better. We are planning a trip to Disney for spring break in March. I cant wait. We will actually be able to fit in the rides without hurting our selves. 1-4/06 We went to Dr Burrowes today, he said everything was going fine and Lee has lost all the weight he needs to loose and I have to loose alot more. But I was 230 (alot better than 341) I feel so much better and I startrd going to the tanning bed. I really like it, its kinda relaxing after work. We are going to Disney March 29th - April 2nd. I am so excited. I know I am more excited than the kids are. I guess everything is good with my bloodwork, Dr Burrowes office called and told me to tell Lee to take more B complex and add zinc. I have lost about 120 now, I am down to 221 (sometimes 222 to 224) Here is a current picture and I am wearing a XL shirt and 18 jeans. I started out wearing a 3X to 4X shirt and 26 to 28 jeans. I am just so thankful and feel so much better. The only thing I really hate right now is my arm flab. It hangs really bad (gross) Mabe I will be able to have ps one day, but even if I can't I am still thankful to have had the sugery. 2-13 I have a new addiction. I love shopping for clothes now. I am actually wearing clothes from the regular size section. I havent done that in years. I got alot this weekend (more than I sould have) size 18 and 16 and even one pair of capri in a size 14. (they are kinda tight thoe but I just had to get them, they were only $10.00) I just had the best time shopping. I put some shirts on layaway for vacation. They were so cute and a size XL. They are a little tight but I think they will be ok by March 29. (MARCH 2006) I usually post one picture at the end of each month, But I am finally starting to like the way I look (kinda) so I have extra pictures this month. !!! I got some new summer clothes for spring break (Disney) size 16 and 14 shorts and XL and 1X shirts. even a tank top. I havent enjoyed shopping for clothes in a long time. !!! I had almost as much fun as I will have on vacation just buying my clothes. I dont seem to be loosing any more right now. I have been back and forth with the same few pounds for about 3 weeks now. I hope things get better soon, I also noticed that I am able to eat more than I was and have been able to eat bread. It had been making me uncomfortable. I guess I will have to work harder to loose the last 60 pounds. I was hoping to loose 150 in the first year, but I might not make that at this pace. I have 10 more to go. (MAY 2006 -1 YEAR) 5-31 Well today is one year, I had my surgery one year ago and I feel so much better. I am really glad I decided to do it. I didnt loose as much as I wanted to by today, I was hoping for the scale to say 191 (150 loss) but I was 194 this morning. Thats close enough I guess. (I weigh 147 less than I did one year ago.) (Thats alot of FAT gone) I am so thankful to Dr Burrowes!!! RANGE MEANING Less than 18.5 Underweight 18.5 - 24.9 Normal 25.0 - 29.9 Overweight 30.0 - 34.9 Obese 35.0 - 39.9 Severely Obese 40.0 - 50 Morbidly Obese Over 50 Super Obese When I get to 163, I will not be obese, just overweight, and when I get to 136, I will be normal.
