04/04/07 ~ WOW, I haven't been here in several years I see, to update everyone and to help all the pre-ops and new post-ops. My apologies to you all. I hit a hard bottom in life after the baby was born and replaced food with alcohol and ended up in a long term rehab to learn that I can live my life without overeating and no alcohol. Talk about another struggle, man it was just another thing I had to overcome in my life. But, as today I am doing WONDERFUL. I do still have a glass of wine now and then but, I don't need to hide my emotions/feelings behind alcohol anymore just as I don't need to hide them with food. Those are two hurdles I have overcame in life. YEAH! And as far as me being a post-op 6 years out now, I have gained a few pounds since I posted last but that is due to me having to stop exercising because I was in a terrible carwreck on 06/07/06 and had to learn to walk again. But, my no means am I out of my weight range for my body structure & height. I am at about 145 lbs and a aize 7-9. Heck, even if I stayed this size forever I would be happy. Still beats a (tight) 28. O hope everyone is doing well and if ANYONE needs or wants to talk to me and ask questions PLEASE FEEL FREE to email me. I might be slow to respond but, I will repond. And, I promise to be back with updates WAY more often as I drop these (about) 15 pounds back off. Hello there! First of all, good luck to EVERYONE who is pre-op and post-op. Now....as you read, my name is Teresa, and I am happily married, I have two girls, ages 8 & 11, I am 32 years old, and cannot wait to have my surgery. I hope to see y'all in the chat room and hear all of your exciting weight loss stories!
Well, howdy there again! Today is 3/24/01 and 10 days 'till my surgery (4/3/01). I am so excited but so nervous. I have been looking at everyones before and after pics and y'all look so GREAT! A little about me~ I am married to a wonderful man and he is very supportive. I am 32 I live in Texas, I have lived here since I was 3 and I even live in the same house. Well, I have not always been overweight although my weight has always gone up and down. I have two WONDERFUL daughters 11 & 8, since the birth of my 8yo my weight has continued to climb. I am at about 270-275 now. My BMI is 48.9. I plan to have it down in the 20s if not lower. When I first heard of this surgery it was in 1998 and it has taken me this long to go through with it. The first time I checked into to the surgery was in August 2000. I was going to go through the Bariatric Treatment Center in Dallas. They kept messing around so then a friend told me about Dr. McCarty. I went to his seminar in February 2001 and did all the necessary paperwork and then about 21/2 weeks later his office called me with a surgery date of May 8th 2001. I was so excited! Well they told me I was having Lap (which is what I wanted) and I was thrilled. A few days later they called me back and asked if I was willing to go with Dr. Westmoreland (the Lap specialist), I said sure and so another day or two his office called to set up an appointment for a consultation. The appointment was the very next day! Well, to make this shorter, the appointment went good, we looked at a calender and we set the date for 4/3/01. I have already went for my pre-op tests and so far everything is OK. I even have already registered for surgery and had my lab work done. I am ready to go. Hello again! Today is Tuesday 3/27/01 and my surgery is exactley one week away. I went and bought a new cotton (very soft) gown and a robe that snaps up the front. Today has been a good day.I need to clean but, I will get to it this evening. Untill next time. C-ya! :o)
Well, here I am on "the other side"!! I am feeling ok (3days post op) but, I have the bloating gas pains. Surgery went well. My starting weight was more than I thought. It was 288. I had gained quiet a bit of weight without realizing it. Well, those days are over. I am so ready for my weight loss. I am mentally prepared for it. I had Lap and I have 5 small incisions that should clear up almost to nothing. Sounds good to me. Had surgery on Tuesday April 3rd and Dr. Westmoreland said I could drive starting on Monday and I can do anything I want until then. He said there are no limitations except for lifting. Well, he did a great job and I am proud and pleased that I went to him. He said my pouch is 30cc which is about 1oz. I can really feel it while I am eating soup. I get full quick whereas before the entire can was no problem. Well, good luck to EVERYONE and see all you preops on the other side.
Hey yall! Well I thought I would post tonight. I am 13 days out now and I am down 18lbs. Today is Easter and all the food looked so good. I had a tiny bite of ham, sweet potatos, & potato salad. I did eat one hershey kiss and I was ok. I could not resist. I am doing good so far. I had one of my insicions get infected and the doctor had to open it back up and that is the only pain I am having. I think it will be ok. I am on antibiotics and I go back to the dr. this Tuesday. I'm back!!! Today is Thursday April 19, 2001. I went to the Dr. on Tuesday and my infection is clearing up nicely. The antibiotics did not do good for "other" parts of my body though...itch, itch,itch.....LOL. I am making it through it though. I have lost 22lbs as of today...YIPEE!!... I am proud of myself. The only thing I need to work on is getting my protein drinks in. I still haven't found one that I like. Well, better run but, I wish everyone the best!!
5/2/001 ~ Hello there!! Tomorrow is my one month birthday. Wow this month has just flown by. I cannot believe it has already been a month. Still haven't found a great protein drink but, I can tolerate Designer Protein. It is good with orange juice and some ice and a blender. Kinda taste like an Orange Julius. Well, now for the big news.....I have lost 26.5 pounds as of today and 28 3/4 inches over my body. My biggest weight loss is in my hips. I have lost 6.5" off of them. I feel great. I am on top of the world today. I have been eating whatever I want. I just get my protein in first. I still cannot get all the required amount but, I am working on it. My goal now is to lose about 30-40 pounds before July 2nd. We are going to Ft. Lauderdale Fl. and I want to be smaller. That gives me two months to work on it. Well, I better go and get some sleep. That is one thing I am lacking.......SLEEP. Good luck EVERYONE!!!! Bye for now. :o)
6/1/01-- Howdy Yall!!! I am feeling great today!! I am two days away from being two months post op. As of today I am 44 pounds down and 48" down!! That is a loss of 17.5 pounds in my second month! I feel great! i have had no problems and the eating is getting easier. I still cannot each much but, I know what things to stay away from now. Yes, I do "dump" and when I do I never eat that food again. I really don't have any food cravings, I still crave Dr. Peppers but, then I take a tiny sip of my hubbys and YUCK!!! It is too sweet. I am use to my water. I think that tiny sip brings me back to reality and makes me realize I DON'T miss those sodas. It is even hard for me to drink Crytal Lite now. I cannot handle the sweetness. Well, I thought my weight was coming off slow but, my Dr. told me I am doing great. OK, I will accept that. EVERYONE take care and feel free to email me!!
7/7/01~~Howdy!! Well here I am three months out and feeling great. I think I am on a plateau but, I plan on breaking it!! :o) I am now down to a size 18/20 and cannot believe it! I am also down 61 lbs and wow I think I am finally feeling and seeing it! Everyone keep up YOUR good work and for all you pre-ops....GO FOR IT!!!!
8/12/01 WOW, it has been a month since I posted. Well, I am doing great! I am a little more than 4 months out and I am down 79 pounds as of today. I am feeling fabulous. The shorts that I bought in June are already falling off. YIPEEEE!!! I am down to a size 16/18 in bottoms and a L & XL in tops. Wow, what a feeling. I am back to having a hard time getting in all my protein and very many calories. Yesterday I only got in 40g of protein and about 360 calories. My next short term goal is to be down 100 pounds by 10/3/01. It will be a hard one but, I am going to try and get close as I can to it. 10/3/01 is my 6th month WLS anniversay and it would leave me with about 60 lbs to go!! Not bad eh? LOL Take Care!! 9/4/01~~hEY THERE!! I am 5 months post op yesterday and I am down 87 pounds and OVER 90 inches!!! I feel great! I still dump on "no-no's" but, I am learning. I am really glad I dump though because if I didn't then I would be in troube!! LOL Anyway, I am in a size 16 now and wow what a feeling!! I haven't been in a size 16 in years!! I am shooting for a goal of 50 more pound loss by February 2002. Then I can start checking into a tummy tuck and boob lift/reduction. YEAH!!! Anyway, I am doing great and I wish everyone the best of luck!!
9/16/01~ I had my gallbladder out on 9/13/01 and I am doing great. It was painful though. I thought it was more painful than the gastriv bypass. I think I was just psyched up for the gastric bypass and dreading the gallbladder removal. *sigh* But, now 3 days later I am feeling much better.
10/4/01~ HELLO!!! I am 6 months and one day post op and I DID IT!!! I am down 100 pounds!! I feel great! I also walked 7 1/2 miles today. I am becoming addicted to walking. Is that possible? I am doing great!! Bye for now.
11/3/01~ Well, here I am at 7 months post op. I can't believe it! It doesn't seem possible. I have not been this small (size 14) since before I ever had kids. I am still a ways to goal (about 40 or 50 more pounds) but, I know in time I will get there. My weight loss slowed down this month more than I wanted it to. I think I need to pick up the walking again and keep my weight loss going. My next goal is to wear a size 12 at Christmas. Well, gotta go, *hugs* to everyone.
12/3/01~ Hello again fellow losers and soon to be losers!! I am eight months out nopw and feeling great. It is so nice to be able to do what I want and not feel any pain. I am now in a size 12 (from a size 28) and can't believe it! To all of you who are just beginning your journey or who are "stuck" on your journey. Hang in there and keep your chin up! 02/3/02 ~ Here I am 10 months out and my weight loss has really slowed down. I am still eating very well but, I can eat a few more bites than before. Anyway, my inches have not slowed down!! I am still shrinking!! I am in a size 10 now and LOVING it. I feel so skinny on good days but, still feel obese on bad days. I can do it, I can do it, I can do it. That is what I just keep on saying. I just keep praying to my Goddesses and asking them for strength. I WILL make it through this first year with a blue ribbon!! Take Care and never give up!!!!!
01/30/03 ~ Well, it has been just about a year since I have wrote in here besides on my weight chart below. A lot has happened. I had a tummy tuck in March of 2002 and it was a huge success and YES insurance paid for it. Also,I have seperated from my hubby and found a new man. All of a sudden I have 3 more kids and didn't have to go through child birth!! LOL Anyway, I am down to about 117 pounds and anywhere from a size 2 to a 5 depending on the brand. Wow!! what a great feeling!! Good luck to all and feel free to email me with any questions or comments!!
05/08/03 ~ Hello everyone!! Well, I found out that I am pregnant. As of today, I am in my 8th week. I have gained a few pounds but, nothing to worry me. I am still wearing size 4 and happy as can be!! The best part so far is that I am getting boobs again!!! LOL Anyway, everyone take care and I will try to update again soon!! Blessed be!!
