The IVC filter was pretty easy. they gave me IV sedation and it was a fairly short surgery.  I got pretty bruised and a little sore the next day but thats it.

The bypass was done on the 14th two days later.  I felt pretty rotten the day of surgery but by the next morning i felt a whole lot better.  Dr. Chua said it was a good success.  I felt better every day since then.

My only problem is not getting enough fluids every day and i cant find a protein i can stand to drink! I wish i could eat the protein bars already.

I would have to say the surgery was definitely worth it all.  I lost 25 lbs so far and hopefully more when i get to my next 6 week check up.

my clothes are loser and my face is thinner.  Im feeling pretty good.

this is it!

more testing

had my upper gi, ekg and chest xray last week.  Plus I think they took about a gallon of blood.  Then on Monday I met with the surgeon for a pre op history etc.  suddenly my cholesterol is out of whack!  He said it was really high which is weird because in Feb. it was normal and Im eating healthier now than i was then!

lost another 3 lbs for a total of 10 this month on pre op diet.  not too shabby for someone who cant move about very well.  My filter procedure is on Friday and then next week thursday is my WLS.

everyone keeps saying are you excited? well yes I am but im crazy busy and tired too.  Tonight i have to go to the sleep doctor for those results. I am hoping that is negative too.

My gall bladder was fine and the other tests were good too so the sleep doctor is the last thing.

pre op testing

May 29, 2007

well last friday i had my sleep study and man that sucked! i was so tired and forgot my pain meds at home but i made it through and the tech never did put the cpap on me so maybe Ill luck out and not have apnea! would be nice to not have one more thing to be concerned about.

this thursday I have my pre op testing  the upper gi, chest xray and ekg.  Hoping that goes really smoothly too.  Then next monday is my presurg physical at the surgeons office and that friday my IVC filter is getting put in.  WHEW then finally on the 14th is my actual surgical date.

I have to get all my cases at work ship shape and let all my clients know I will be gone for awhile and especially all the needy ones so they have a contact person at my office while I am away.  I also have some reporting to do and to straighten up my desk (seems like a paper explosion all of a sudden)

On top of it all my daughter is wigging out a little bit. Im not sure if its because of the surgery or just her routine is off but man lately the girl has a mouth that just wont quit.  Thought that was one of the things i had to look forward to at 13 not 10!  good grief!

All my coworks and friends are so encouraging and totally behind me for this surgery.  I cant wait to actually feel like the me i used to be once again!

got my date

May 19, 2007

Met with the doctor for my IVC filter evaluation and it was decided that I need one due to my mobility issues and family history.  Before I left the office they told me I could schedule a date for both procedures! I was sooo happy.

It was short lived though when I found out a day or two later that the office of Voc Rehab gave the doctor's office some weird mixed messages about paying for the surgery and upset both me and the doctor's staff!

Well I worked it out and I tihnk its going to be fine. Just enought to make me a bit crazy this week.  My poor family really suffered though because of my problems.

I am also getting them to help me get some assistance at home for my post surgical needs and the lift chair that you all recommended.  Picked it out today.

Next week I begin all the pre surgical testing. Trying to keep a positive attitude.

doctor consultation

May 05, 2007

finally got in to see the doctor on friday (I LOVE HIM) but now I have to have a sleep apena test and also to be evaluated for blood clots. due to my disability I will probably have to have a procedure before my WLS to insert some filters into my arteries to prevent blood clots from traveling in my body.  Guess this is a good thing when you consider the alternative.  BUT i want to get these done asap!!

then i think its just a date!  Cant wait still keeping my mind focused on June.
