Phew, What a Relief!!

Oct 23, 2007

Well Dr Dent's office managed to get me scheduled with all the specialists in time. The next month will be a busy one.

Oct.30th, 2007 - Appt. with Cardiologist
Nov.5th, 2007 - Appt. with my GP to check that my new blood pressure meds are working
Nov.6th, 2007 - Appt. with Respirologist
Nov.7th, 2007 - Sleep study, spending the night at the Civic
Nov.19th, 2007 - Appt. with my GP for a physical and her clearance for the surgery
Nov.20th, 2007 - Appt. with Dr. Dent for him to give me a Phsychiatric Evaluation clearance letter
Dec.5th, 2007 - Is the day we leave for Utica, NY
Dec.6th, 2007 - Meet with the anethesist and have my pre-op testing done
Dec.7th, 2007 - Is the big day!!

Sometime in between all that, I'll need to do my Christmas shopping and put up all the decorations and tree.

At this point I am getting really nervous. I'm nervous for the surgery itself but then I'm also nervous that I won't get clearance from all the specialists. My emotions are all over the place, I just can't wait till it's finally all over!

Well, that's all for now, I'll keep you all updated on how my appts. go.

I Got A Date!!!

Oct 11, 2007

Woohoo, December 7th, 2007 is my surgery date with Dr. Graber!!

I had my consult with Dr. Graber on October 8th, 2007 and I thought he was GREAT!! His staff was nice too.
I would highly recommend Dr Graber to anyone, he was very informative, confident, friendly and has a great sense of humour. He answered all my questions patiently and didn't rush me out the door. He really helped put my mind at ease over the whole procedure.

I gotta say the worst part of any Doctor visit is getting on the dreaded scale!! I've gained 8 pounds in the last 2 or 3 months, tipping the scale at 377lbs. Gosh, just saying it makes me feel ill. UGH!

Dr Graber would like me to see a Cardiologist because of my hypertension and a respirologist because of smoking (I'm in the process of quitting).
I am also having another sleep study done November 8th, 2007 to check my CPAP pressure plus there's a ton of bloodwork yet to do and a physical from my GP.
So I went in to Dr. Dent's office on October 10th, 2007, they are going to work on getting me in to see the Cardiologist and Respirologist. They said that Cardio is usually hard to get in to see and if they can't get me in quickly, my surgery may have to be post-poned. I sooo hope not!!
I got back to see Dr. Dent himself in November so he can write a Psychiatric Letter of Clearance.

I also saw Jen, the nutritionist at Dr. Dent's office on the 10th, she was great!
She'll be writing up a report for me as well. She really had a lot of great
tips to help me prepare for when I have my pouch.

Also on October 10th, I went to see my GP. I hadn't informed her yet of my progress on the RNY surgery, so I figured it was time to update her.
She was great, very supportive which helps!
My blood pressure has been high lately so she also changed my BP meds. I will be seeing her again in November for a physical and her letter of clearance for surgery as well.

Looks like the next few weeks before surgery will be busy! I am sooo anxious to get my "new life" started!
I am nervous too, I've never had surgery other than dental and that was minor. Of course, I can't help but think of the what ifs but I guess I wouldn't
be normal if I didn't!

Keep your fingers crossed for me, I don't want to have my surgery post-poned!!

On My Way...

Sep 24, 2007

Had my appt. with Dr.Dent on August 14th, he filled out and faxed in my Ohip forms for RNY with Dr Graber.
Got my approval from Ohip on August 20th.
Dr Graber's office called on August 23rd to schedule a consult for November 26th.
Dr Graber's office called back on September 24th, they have a cancellation for October 8th, so I have taken that date instead.

I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I just want this whole journey to a new life to begin.
