6 months post op

May 05, 2009

Down 105 lbs.  Last month my hair started majorly thinning out but it's better now.  I wasn't taking my vitamins regularly and I wasn't getting in enough protien.  The doctor said it's normal to loose hair though with rapid weight loss but I wasn't doing my part.

I've increased my protien and I'm taking my vitamins.  Also taking an iron supplement since I'm iron deficient.  I'm very happy these days.  I'll be traveling to the UK, France, Portugal and Spain soon for business.  Looking forward to it but a little concerned about the food part.  Suppose to be away for 3 weeks.

My mom's cancer treatments are over.  Just wtg on test results.  I so hope she's in the clear.  It's been a tough 6 months and difficult for me to be happy about my weight loss while worried about her.

Post Op - wk 9

Jan 05, 2009

I can eat a little pop corn now and I can keep chicken down.  I had a nice salad at lunch.  I feel more normal now except that I eat tiny portions and avoid the bad foods.  I ordered some books about living with GBP.  I've learned some things I didn't know and it's been good reading.  Got back yesterday afternoon from VA.  We were visiting my husband's family.  Had a nice time but everyone was too interested in what I was or wasn't eating.  I feel a like a lab rat some days.  Work has died off at the lunch table, TG!!

People still want to know all the gory details and peep thier heads in my office for an update.  Honestly I just want to be left alone.  Fortunately, everything is going well except my hair is thinning out a little.  I know I've got get my protien in and start taking my vitamins at night as well as the morning.  It's my fault but it's so hard.

I'll be heading to the gym soon to get my workout in.  I'm exhausted from work but gotta do it.

Week 8

Dec 29, 2008

It's the beginning of weight eight.  I'm 263 today.  Feeling okay.  I went shopping for new jeans over the weekend.  I can't believe I'm wearing a size 22.  It's been a long time.  My mom has cancer and isn't doing well with the treatments.  She was diagnosed with small cell cervical cancer 4 weeks before my surgery (Nov 4th) and she had surgery 2 wks before my WLS.  It's put a big damper on my WL motivation.  It's hard to be happy and excited.

I'm so glad I had this surgery.    I'm able to eat ham, seafood, fruit, green beans, cucumbers, etc now.  It's great to feel full after such a little bit.  I get flavor without all the calories.  I love it.  The jeans I bought 2 weeks ago are loose.  I've lost 46 lbs.  I keep hoping the scale will go down a lb or 2 by Monday morning.  I've only lost 1 lb since Monday.  Maybe I'm in another stall.  I'm happy though.  I went to the gym last night and used the tred mill for 30 minutes.  I really want to be able to jog on the tred mill but I'm so afraid I'll roll right off the thing and I'm worried I'll look and sound like an elephant on it. I gotta to work on that.  Maybe I'll go Sunday morning while everyone is at church and try it.

Post Op WK 6

Dec 16, 2008

I was in such a foul mood over the weekend.  I swore off ever eating again.  I was so tired of re-fried beans or tuna fish.  I didn't eat anything all weekend and surprisingly was never hungry.  By Monday evening I decided to review where I'm suppose to be at now and what food options I might have.  I went to grocery store and picked up some things I haven't tried and they stayed down.  Finally I can eat something that taste good.  I feel like I've got my life back.  I was really hating having made this decision but now I'm OK.  I can't wait to be able to eat a salad again.  Just a couple more weeks to wait.

Surgery in just 3 weeks!

Oct 13, 2008

10/13/08  I've had my pre-op visit this afternoon with my PCP.  I just have to get my blood work done next week.  I'm scheduled for surgery 11/4/08.  Still waiting on insurance approval.  I'm so ready for this!  I was scared 4 months ago but I've had so many tests done that I feel good about it now.  Can't imagine what 1 year post op will be like!!
