July Update

Jul 09, 2008

Had a Dr's appointment yesterday...Had lost 3 lbs...This time I had gained muscle and lost fat...so thats good...I am down a total of 57 lbs... I did get a .2cc fill yesterday...I have a 4 cc band and I have 3.5ccs in the band right now...I still feel that not getting exercise is what's keeping me losing slow...Its just hard to get going...My son is fixing to start football so he wants to start going to the track and running some so while he's running I'm going to walk to track for as long as I can..and just work my way up til I can walk longer.

June 08 Update

Jun 17, 2008

Thought I should update...Its been quite a while since I have...I am 10 1/2 months out...I have lost a total of 54 lbs so far...I have 59 lbs to go to get to the weight my Dr has suggested of 180 lbs. ...Honestly I'd be happy to get below 200 lbs...My biggest problem is still not being committed to exercising...Some days I am really motivated and others I can't be bothered with anything...I hate being like that...I set goals and dates to reach these goals and the dates go by and I am no further along than I was before I set the goal...I have just now reached the goal of being at 240 lbs...but I set that goal to be reached by New Years...and six months later I finally do get there...Alot of things happened towards the end of the year and I ended up having to have an unfill...Another one of my issues is not gettin in the protein...My last Dr visit on the 5th of June...I had lost 13 lbs...but also have lost lean muscle...She told me that I needed to make sure and get my protein in...I was doing shakes...but the milk got to where it made me sick all day long so I had to stop drinkin them...One thing I do know for sure is that I DO NOT REGRET ANY PART OF MY DECISION TO HAVE THE LAP-BAND DONE!!! I feel soo much better about myself...I feel a difference in myself and the way I was this time a year ago...I may be losin slow but a least I am still losin...I will eventually get there!!! I'm not giving up this fight yet!!!

October 2nd Dr Visit

Oct 03, 2007

Went in for a check up yesterday...everything went good...had lost 3 lbs...Think I could've done better...but thats what happens when you make bad choices...I did get another fill yesterday...so now I have 2 cc's...I'm hoping this one helps me more than the last one did...I tried to eat a cream cheese muffin this morning...and it didn't go very well...took a few bites and it got stuck...some came back up and the rest went down...so I've been taking it easy the rest of the day...I did eat a little bit at lunch and it went down ok..but was only able to eat about  1/2 - 2/3 of a cup...I started to feel full and stopped then.
I have set a Thankgiving goal to lose 22 lbs by then...If I try I know I can do it...that will put me at losing 30 lbs since surgery...and 52 lbs since I start my journey.
My husband has been eating better and has cut out alot of his drinking cokes...and he has lost 22 lbs since I've been doing this...he has really helped me alot in the last few months...he helps me keep up with what and how much I eat...and he does the same for himself...he is learned for himself to stop eating when he first feels full.

Appointment update

Sep 04, 2007

Ok...went to my appointment today..haven't lost any  weight in  2 weeks...I did get a fill...I have 1 cc in my 4 cc band...she told me it as going to be painful...and there would be pressure...so I was really excepting it to be an awful experience......I even had my husband there to hold my hand...LOL...I hate needles...I know...I picked the wrong procedure...I just didn't want any body altering...Its already deformed enough ...Anyway...I didn't need his hand...there was no pain at all!!!I felt a small stick...and that was from when she numbed it...she said I'd probably get another fill on the 2nd when I go back...So I am on liquids today...and see how things go tomorrow...Just gonna take my time and see what happens...she said I may and may not feel anything from this fill...that usually you don't with the first one...but thats ok...I want to do this slowly and the right way.

Hubby will be fixing supper tonight......He has been really great through all this...he fixed supper through the 2 week pre-op and through the post-op til I could eat food...If it hadn't been for him doing that...I don't think I would have made it through it...I have a wonderful support 'team'...my parents...my husband and kids...my sisters's and their families...and lots of friends...My 10 year old daughter was my 'personal trainer'...she did everything with me...they even tried the liquid diet I was on to see exactly what I had to go through...one didn't make it the first meal...he heard the cereal calling his name when he got up...the other 2 made it...they finally understood what I was going through.

Guess I Should Update!!!LOL

My surgery went great...only trouble was that my spleen was in the wrong place...she said my liver was perfect and that I did really good on my pre-op diet...YEA ME!!! As for pain..I remember as I woke up in recovery of discomfort in my chest...and the NASTIEST taste in my mouth...the only person I remember seeing in there at first was my surgeon...there was several others around me...but she was the one I recognized first...then my family was allowed to come it...anyway...they gave me pain meds and that pretty much helped...my mouth was SOOOO dry...Don't know for sure how long I ws in recovery...but they asked me if I wanted anymore pain meds before they took me to the floor...but I didn't need any at the time...When they got me to the room...I was in a little more pain from moving around and moving over to the other bed..and the gas pain in my chest came back...so I got another round of pain meds...I have no idea what it was but it was AWESOME!!!!It knocked EVERYTHING OUT!!! Including me!!! ...after a while I was able to get up...and OMG it felt sooo good to be up...had to go potty...LOL...then since it felt so good being up she asked me if I wanted to sit in the chair for a while...so I did...and they brought me a tray or liquids to try...could only take a lil bit of that...but had also been sucking on ice...which was JUST AS AWESOME AS THE PAIN MED!!! About 5 pm I was able to go home...they gave me more pain and nausea meds for the ride home...and I don't know if that was the the same thing I had before...but I couldn't talk straight that with that one...I couldn't even understand what I was saying...LOL...I don't remember the ride home at all...I do remember getting to my parents house to get my son...don't even remember getting on my house...I do remember I had socks on and I was getting in bed but I didn't wear any shoes coming home and they mowed the yard while I was gone...and I had grass on my socks..so my hubby took them off of me before I got in bed...I didn't need my CPAP after surgery...waking up was what I had problems with before...but no problems this time...I did use it when I go home...because I had sooo much pain maeds in me...I asked my hubby a few days later who put the water in my CPAP...he said that I did it...I DON'T REMEMBER DOING THAT EITHER!!!

All in all everything is going good...I went for a check up 2 weeks out and had lost 5 lbs...for a total of 27 lbs...that day was the first day I had driven and it was ROUGH..my port is on the left side and everytime I leaned over to shut my door it hurt...I ended up having to come home and take some pain meds...everything else I had to do had to wait til hubby got home from work...that afternoon I went out of town and the day we came back home which was 2 days later...I had not pain at all...I have port pain when I over do it...mainly when I do alot of sweeping...I go back to the dr on Sept 4th...will update after that.
