Hi,
I started by LB journey back in Aug.06.at 6'6"- 425lbs. I did the jumping through hoops for the insurance people, especially since I was going to Minnesota to have my surgery done. I finally got approved toward the end of Oct.06.
I had to produce my Fed D.O.T. physical exam reports all the way back to 2000 before they would believe I hadn't just gained the weight overnight. I'm a commercial driver, so I had the exam reports on file and they couldn't dispute federal documents.
I was scheduled for surgery in early Nov.06 and got cancelled on the eve of the surgery. My pre-op showed I had something wrong with my bloodwork. I weighed in at 404lbs.  So they checked and checked and no one could figure out what was wrong. In the meantime (mid- Dec.), I got a real bad case of cellulitus in my leg while I was down in Joplin,MO. It took me 4 days to drive the 800 miles back to Fargo. I thought I had the flu until the doctor here told what it was. Then 2 weeks of outpatient IV therapy (10a.m.&10p.m.each day), which was really pretty much like vacation since it went through Christmas. Then 2 weeks of the same med's in pill form.
I finally got the leg looking pretty good, so Dr. Fortier decided to have me come in for another pre-op and see if we could get the surgery scheduled. Bingo!! I was on for 1/11/07 and now I'm a Bandster. I pretty much did the liquid diet with some solid food from Nov. to surgery day and weighed in at 377lbs,48 lbs lost!! Feeling great 8 days out @370lbs. Hope things keep going this way--maybe just wishful thinking on my part???
