day 5: 1st blog but alittle late

Jul 08, 2010

OK so my story from the beginning: my surgery date was June 30, 2010 me and my great support team ( my mom, Teresa, and Lou Lou ) headed up the night before and stayed at a hotel due to living hr 1/2 away. so nervous that night couldn't sleep ended up going to wal mart at 130 in the am and the only getting 2 hrs of sleep before having to be at the hospital at 0530 it went pretty quickly, boy was i surprised when i woke up yes i knew about all the tubes that i was gonna have but it is so much dif when u actually wake up and have JP drain not to mention how gross it was, and we cant forget the great G-TUBE i know that it is there for a good reason and it is one of the reasons that i went with Dr Jawad, but i will tell you that it is the second worst part of the surgery, so when i got back to my room i was on pain meds around the clock and i do mean that i felt like a junky i was falling asleep while  in the class to be released, i could not sleep in the hospital bed, i had to sleep in the recliner and when i say sleep i only mean like a hr at a time, i should have taken that as a sign as to something was wrong. i was released on Thursday as i was supposed to and took my hr 1/2 drive home, while at home i was still in extream pain and had to sleep on the couch i still couldn't lay down in a bed and i was still on pain meds around the clock just to dull the pain. Friday night i was starting to feel worse i felt very nausea and was having even worse stomach pains ( not gas pains just like a sharp stabbing pain ) around 1am i started vomiting and decided to call the DR he said that something was wrong and i needed to get to the hospital ( in Ocala) well easier said then done. so went to the local hospital to be transferred by ambulance or something to Ocala ( well we will just say that that was a hole dif nightmare in its self ) i arrived there at 2am and departed there to Ocala at 9am, in these 7 hrs i have to have the tube placed down my throat again and was still vomiting. so when i finally arrived at Ocala the 1st thing that the nurse how See's me me less than 10 mins notices is if she has the tube down her nose why is she still vomiting? very good ?, so by noon i was rush back in for emergency surgery due to twisted and decompressed bowels, and let me tell u from the time i woke up i felt like a new person. I was kept in the hospital for 2 additional days for observation and the have a full day of IV fluids to get re-hydrated and give my intestines a change to heal up Little. i will say that i was able to sleep in the hospital bed each night and only took pain meds when i went to sleep just to make it a better sleep. so at 1st i was kinda regretting my discion for the surgery but i am by day 5 from the 2ND surgery now feeling much much better. very little pain mostly gas and am learning to deal with the G-tube but i will tell u that, will be the best day when it gets removed i don't even us it but to drain and clean so it is literally just a pain in my side.
