Hi, everyone!! My name is Jenifer, and I will be 29 in January 2012. I just had my lap RNY December 19th, 2011, in Topeka, Ks., with Dr. David Cancelada. I was never super skinny growing up, but i was healthy enough I competed in beauty and talent competitions from age 6 to age 20.  I was a ballerina, tapper, and clogger for many years (dance classes at least 4x a week) until I took up singing.  I started my job at a call center in July 2001 (I still work there) and met my husband there. We got married 2003, and I had our son November 2003. Ever since i left that hospital I have never been under 200 pounds.  I have been fortunate enough to not have comorbidities such as high blood pressure or diabetes, but I wanted to take control of my life now before those kicked in since it all runs in my family.  I tried for WLS since June 2009 and was denied repeatedly for not being fat enough long enough (I was 240 back then-and I have consistently gained up to my presurgery weight of 305).  I didnt get approved for surgery until my job switched insurances this last June, and they were kind enough to let me use my previous pcp visits to speed up the process.  I havent had one bad experience with them or the surgery yet.  Im only 2 weeks out today as Im writing this, but I want anyone who wonders if the surgery is worth it to know that my answer is already a big fat YES!!!!
