Well; it seems as though Obesity Help lost my origional log. I'll try to put in all of the key elements......
My name is Trish and I had a lap Roux-en-Y by Dr. Kuldeep Singh October 30, 2001. I weighed somewhere between 273 and 275 lbs at that time. Since then, I've lost 100 lbs, had a beautiful son, been featured in a physicians news publication article on weight loss surgery, resolved a vast majority of my health issues and am now getting ready for a tummy tuck. (Courtesy of Dr. Nassif Soueid). I still can't believe that it's been 6 years since my origional surgery. Time sure has a way of flying.....
For those of you who are reading this and contemplating having weight loss surgery, I'd say to GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!
I can't even begin to tell you what taking control of my weight has done for me. I grew up obese and was teased, picked on, bullied and treated as far less than a human being because of my weight. For the first time in my adult life, I can shop in a regular department store, sans the "fat lady" department. My husband still looks at me with a twinkle in his eye, even after 10 years together. I have a beautiful little boy, my miracle baby. None of these goals would have never been accomplished without the weight loss surgery. Truth be told, I don't know if I would still be here had I not lost the weight. Diabetes is rampant in my family. I was on a large amount of insulin, and my glucose control wasn't optimal. (Sad to admit since I am a Registered Nurse by profession). Dr. Singh, you are MY HERO! I thank God for you every day of my life.
I will be having Abdominoplasty at St. Josephs Medical Center in Towson Maryland on Tuesday November 6, 2007. Dr. Soueid has assured me that I will finally have the flat stomach that I have NEVER had in my entire life. I can't imagine how that is going to feel, since I've had to "dress my flub" since, well, forever! (Flub-that roll of loose skin that sits on the lower abdomen that has been resistant to exercise, diet and lifestyle changes). Please pray for me.
So this is my story so far. The saga continues. I promise to keep everyone posted.
