1st check-up in the bag!

Jan 06, 2009

I had my first post-op check up today and everything went extremely well!

My BMI has gone from 50.7 down to 47 so far!  Currently I'm enjoying some sugar free vanilla pudding.  It's so nice to have new stuff to enjoy in my diet!

I'm feeling pretty good, possibly not getting as much water/fluids as I need so I have to work on that a bit better as my blood pressure was a bit higher today.

Ta ta for now!

I'm home!!

Jan 01, 2009

So today is New Year's Day and it's my first day home from surgery.  I had my laparoscopic RNY gastric bypass on Monday, December 29th and had to stay in the hospital for an extra night due to problems with nausea.  It seemed like as soon as they took out my drainage tube I made a quick recovery.  I'm very excited to get on with my post-surgery life and hope that I don't encounter too many problems along the way!

Thank you to the lovely nursing staff at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital---you were wonderful and I am grateful to have had such a patient staff to take care of me.

Thank you to Dr. Svendsen---you may not know it but you truly are a miracle worker!

Peace!

2 more days!!

Dec 27, 2008

Wow...I cannot believe it's only 2 days until my surgery!  I've been having a really hard time the last few days with the liquid diet.  I can't explain it, but for some reason I've been dreaming of cheeseburgers every night!! lol!!  It's hard because that was my favorite food and knowing it's going to be a LONG time before I can taste it again is a little discouraging but I just remind myself of the long journey I've taken to get where I am and that I absolutely refuse to let myself give up now!

I still haven't told my parents that I'm going through with this surgery.  The last bit of information I gave my mom about this whole process was a few months ago and all I told her was that I was thinking about the possibility of having this surgery.  This is something I'm doing for myself and I don't need any added stress from my parents---they're guaranteed to deliver a whole heap of it!

Well, time to take the dogs to the dog park for some much needed exercise!
