IN 1997 2 weeks before graduation from nursing school I was in a terrible car accident leaving me with both arms broken and in many pieces, a broken rt. femur and shattered pelvis. I spent 6 months not walking and had to be feed by a family member. I had 20 plus surguries over the next 3-4 years with those surguries I also gained over 100 lbs. I was never "skinny" but was a healthy size 12-14 and at 5'7" I felt good about myself. After the accident and my many surguries I became depressed I had scars I didnt want and was just plan fat. Not to mention losing almost 2 inches of height due to my leg and pelvic fractures. About 3 years ago I decide to make a life change and was approved for surgery at Wilford Hall (military facility) I completed all the pre-op items within a few months and waited and waited and waited last year I was told I would have a surgery date of June of July of this year. In January they called and said due to unavailibility of surgeons bacause of frequent deployement to Iraq they were no longer doing people outside San Antonio...I was devastated to say the least. I called Tricare who when I had first inquired about surgery were not approving "outside" surgery, meaning if i couldn't get it at a military hospital they wouldnt approve it, my luck had changed and they now were approving Gastric By-pass......yeeeeeeeepeeeeeeeeee!!!!!! I made an appointment with my primary doctor and had to search for a covered doctor and found Dr. Raja. So far I"m am completely happy with him and his wonderful office staff...I'm just a little nervous....but I"m counting down the days. 5 weeks and 1 day form today yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh baby.
