Virginia Thompson
Hi! My name is Virginia Thompson (Jenny for short). I'm 26 years old, 4'11, and I weigh 470 pounds. I have Cerebral Palsy that affects from my hips down. Up until about 5 years ago, I was able to walk around the inside of my house with my walker. Now, I'm pretty much wheelchair bound. I'm able to take a couple of steps but thats about it. For each year that goes by, it seems like I manage to gain more and more weight. I still live with my parents and they help me any way that they can. My mother has had to help me more and more with my personal needs the past few years. I have a very supportive family, they all worry about me. I'm hoping that with the help of this surgery, I'll be able to get back on my feet so to speak. I have a very long and difficult road ahead of me but I know that I can survive it. There may be times that I ask myself why I did this to myself but I know that it will be so worth it. To be able to participate in life again instead of just sitting and watching it go by, thats what its all about. I have a whole list of things that I'm looking forward to being able to do. Visiting my friends and family at their homes, shopping, going to the library, flea markets, swimming, being able to just be outside, waking up each day and actually looking forward to the day, enjoying life. That's why I'm doing this.
