It's Countdown Time
Jul 15, 2009
I'm new to the site, and thought since I am in countdown mode ( 11 days until VSGsurgery), that it would be a good time to reach out and post. I am a very independent person, so it's hard to ask for help, but here I am. I haven't been overweight all my life; as a matter of fact, I was a really atheletic person all through high school and college ( playing softball, cheering and rowed in college). It really began after I had my first daughter. I found out 14 months later I was pregnant again, and my now ex-husband asked for a divorce. To compound it, I was pregnant with twins and finishing up my teaching degree. I put on over 80 pounds, and the stress of having to go through the divorce, and trying to figure out how I was going to care for 3 little girls did not make it a priority for me to even try to lose weight. I ate at weird hours and definently not the right things. So here I am now, 10 years later, and I finally think I have a handle on life. I finished up my teaching degree, got my first job as a high school teacher, and then earned a masters degree all while juggling single parenthood. I want to be around for my girls as long as I can possibly be, and I want to head off any potential health related problems. I want to be able to keep up with my girls and feel good all the time. I am happy with what I have accomplished, and this would be the another accomplishment.
