GOAL WEIGHT

Mar 28, 2012

It's been a long time since I've posted. Nearly 3 yrs from my last post. Update....I'm currently 149 pds. It feels weird saying it. I'm still not use to the new look. I've never been this small in my entire adult life. The last time I remember being a hundred and fourty anything I was in high school, maybe junior high. It's a great feeling to walk and not feel like I'm going to pass out.

Though the surgery was a push. I constantly have to stay focus on my eating and physical activities. I'm glad to say I'm more active these days. I enjoy walking without setting myself on fire (legs rubbing together) .

Today I'm scheduled for WLS. I'm not too nervous. Well, maybe a little. I was at the hospital all alone due to my mother being ill. She's my support. My cousin came 1 minute before they rolled me into surgery. I was upset with him. He's such a procrastinator.

I was sitting in the lobby of the hospital feeling a little down because I felt so alone. I only told a few selective people I was having WLS, and everyone else had to work.

After the surgery, Cindy Ryan a co-worker, friend, and post-WLS patient came to visit me. She was my first visit. That made my day. After her, Dawn came to visit. I had just met her at the doctors office a week before my surgery. She's pre-WLS. I thought that was so nice of her to visit.

About an hour later my cousin suprised me with my mother. Boe' did I try to hold back the tears. I was so happy to see her. I understood why she couldn't come to the hospital due to her illness. She's diabete, and there are days she can't walk due to the pain in her feet. I did not expect to see her until  I was released from the hospital. She fought through her pain and came to see me...I love you so much Mom.

The surgery was a success with no complications...Thank God.

I've finally lost a total of 20lbs. THANK GOD!

I was so excited I called my bestfriend to tell him the news. His response to me was "now you don't need to have the surgery"...Man...what a punch in the gut. I was so hurt. Out of all the people I thought he would be happy for me, seein we both struggled with our weight, and how supportive I've been when he has lost.

Well, I have to take it as a learning experience. Everyone will not be happy with your success.

Thanks for listening.

I went to see my doctor for an update of my progress of losing weight before surgery. I've only lost 17 pounds and it's been 6 months. I started working out in January. doing boot camp/kick boxing twice a week. In February I added a third class of  boot camp. Within 6 weeks I've only lost 2 pounds. I can't understand what I'm doing wrong. I  think I'm eating better, but maybe I'm eating things that appears to be healthier and they're not. My clothes are looser, but the scale is not moving much.

I started getting discouraged...When I went to see the doctor (3/04/09)  he told me he was going to submit my authorization for surgery, but I still need to lose 8 pounds before the surgery. That made me feel some better. Now I'm thinkiing...OMG! How am I going to lose 8 pounds within the next few weeks. It has taken 6 months for 17 pounds.

What a girl to do?

I went to my first consultation with Dr. Solomon in Torrance, Ca. I initially was interested in the Lap Band. After talking to the Dr. I decided to do Gastric Bypass. This was something I always promised myself I would never do. That's why they say, "never say never."
