Smoking update

Jul 27, 2008

Well my sister, brother and father quit smoking, but it wasn't from good circumstances.  My dad had a stroke 2 weeks ago, he had an excellent recovery, only side affect still bothering him now is his eyesight is about 50% of what it was.  He's a very lucky man.  Either way, this scared everyone, they are all quiting with my father.

100 lbs lost since January

May 11, 2008

I know I posted this before but that was 100lbs lost from my highest weight, this time it's 100lbs from my surgery in January.  Now I can get one of those cards, woohoo!!!

Guess it's time to post my thoughts

Apr 23, 2008

I'm really surprised how quick the weight came off, I have always been able to loose weight in the past but this time things are different.  I don't have the cravings for junk food, i am happy eating normal sized portions of food, and I learned a lot about food.  This time it is a life change, not a diet.  I had the lapband surgury done but never went back to get it filled.  I think going through a surgury to loose weight helped me mentally change my views on food and health.  The way I was going, i would have probably been dead before I was 40.  I didn't get the band filled because there was no reason too, i am eating the way I should be and loosing weight, why go through the restrictions that the band has.  If I start to slip down the road, the band is there to help.  If i had to do it over again, I wouldn't change a thing.  I think the thing that made a huge difference this time was I educated myself about food.  I have been on diets before that told you what to eat but not why.  Insurance companys should start covering apt's with nutritionists without having to go through the surgury.
