I was so excited about my surgery, but recovery was not great. Everything would have been fine, except I had the most uncomfortable bed.  Here I was in this wonderful big private room, and along with the gas pains I had to endure this bed. And I had to stay an extra night due to too high white cell count. I could not sleep except for about an hour after taking pain medication, which you can only take evry 4 hours. I did get up and walk around, which helped sometimes.......

Once I got home I was fine! But the liquid diet was hard. Am now on soft foods and everything is great! No trouble eating anything, so far. I see from other post-ops that sometimes that changes after your pouch heals. But for now I am fine. No problem with protein. I am so glad I got the sample pack from www.bariactriceating.com. I can really discover what I like. Can't stand the real sweet stuff. In fact...I made a recipe of a Cinnamon Bliss custard, which required 1/3 cup Splenda. I didn't add the splenda and it tatsed more like a flan, which was great. I will try all of the samples and then report which ones I like...........

Protein is a way of life now. Luckily I have always loved it. I even love mixing tuna and cottage cheese together, which I have been doing for years!

Am going to my first support group meeting since, surgery, tomorrow, in Murrietta. I finally get to stand up as a post-op! YEAH!

Well, this is it! Tomorrow I go for surgery at 9:30am, actual surgery takes place at 11:30am. The Wildomar hospital is close to Temecula, so, my husband and I are going to stay tonight at  South Coast Winery and Spa. They have a very nice resturant there, and have promised to give me a nice bowl of french onion soup broth, while my husband enjoys his dinner.  I feel I am ready for this challenge. With the help of Susan Maria's "Before and After" I think I have managed to organize my cubbard for the first and second phase. I wonder if my tastes will change.
When I went for my last appointment with Dr. Suh before surgery, there were two women there that were 1 week post-op. You would have never known. They seemed happy and well. It was very encouraging.
I think I have finally, mentally, made the change. While I was watching my favorite Food Network TV show (Barefoot Contessa) I was mentally trying to figure how I could change the Crostata recipe she was preparing and make it more bariatrci friendly. This is a big step for me........Instead of feeling sorry for myself that I could not have this kind of meal again I was thinking how I could chnage it to meet my new needs!!!

Will update soon!
