I'm 59 years old, married for 35 years and have 4 wonderful grown kids and 5 grandchildren.
My weight problems began when I got pregnant. With each pregnancy I gained more weigh
and never lost it. I was too busy being a full time mom to worry about my weight plus
I loved to cook and I'm emotional over eater. I eat when I'm happy, I eat when I'm sad
I eat when I'm bored, I eat when I'm not hungry. I feel like I'm addicted to food and have no will power.
I feel like telling me to "cut back on your calories" is like telling an alcoholic to drink just 2 oz. of beer
and leave the remaining 10 ounces in the glass.
Over the years I went to Weight Watchers, Over Eaters Anonymous and Weigh-Down Workshop
(the later for 2 years).
I've done Atkins, South Beach, Cabbage Soup and liquid diet and every other diet under then sun
only to fall off the wagon time and time again.
I know about proper nutrition and calorie counting probably better than a dietitian.
I've never lost over 20 lbs. and any weight I've lost I regain time and time again.
Recently I decided to give up on losing weight and gained an additional 20 lbs.
I'm at my highest weight ever of 262 lbs. despite walking and weight lifting 3 x weekly and having a busy lifestyle
of gardening, hobby farming, babysitting and chasing grandkids around and working part-time.
Since its become quite obvious I cannot over come this battle on my own I have decided on Bariatric surgery.
I'm going to a seminar in late April 2010. I am very undecided as to which type of surgery to get.
By pass surgery seems too extreme and risky to me. I'm leaning toward a lap band of sleeve but I'm still
very much undecided.
So happy to find this website.
Looking forward to learning more.
Warm Regards, Vicky
