I remember that kids made fun of me at school because I was fat. I also wore glasses so that didn't help. Friends were far and few between because my step-father liked to move around alot. He was sick (paranoid schitzaphrenic) so now I understand. Anyway at 5' 4" and at the age of 17 I weighed 163. According to the charts I was overwieight and I knew it. Oh what I would give to be 163 lbs now ! I have tried numerous "Diets", pills, classes etc. I would lose some weight but I always gained it back and more too. With each child i grew heavier. It did not help that I was in a bad marriage with a very controlling man. I stayed 26 years until the kids were grown and finally divorced after a two year battle.
I take about 30-35 pills a day and at one point a couple of years ago I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was put on Steroids for a year and a half. My weight kept going up until I reached 280 lbs. I could'nt even wipe myself. Something had to change so I started looking at options for Weight Loss Surgery. I chose Georgetown Community Hospital in Georgetown Ky.
My Lap Band Surgery was on May 30,2008 with Dr. Oldham doing the surgery.
Well Surgery went smoothly !! My mother was worried to death but then again She worries about everthing...LOL Everything was fine until one week post-op. I had an appt. with my Primary Dr, She told me I had a horrific urinary Tract Infection (UTI) and I had also developed a Nasty yeast infection. This was from taking antibiotics for a positive nasal swab I had taken Pre-Op. Dr. Oldham wanted to be safe....Gee Thanks Doc. I was prescribed More antibiotics.......The following Sunday night on the way back from church I started having trouble breathing. I dismissed it as allergies until later that evening. I had already taken my night meds and was getting sleepy but I decided to go to the Emergency Room Because I was still haing a time breathing and I felt strange.. When I finally got to the triage Nurse, I found out why. My Blood pressure had dropped to 70/50. So today I went Back to the PCP and She adjusted my Meds.
6/19/2008 You won't believe it. I was on TV tonight. Actually I got to sing on a gospel TV station located about 60 miles from here. It was a great experience.!!
UPDATE Today is my Birthday 7/16. I turned 48 years young !
I got my second fill today in Lexington.
07/20/08 Boo-Hoo...Still NO Restriction.
08/06/08.......Third fill, still no restriction. I had lost another 4.5 lbs.
