I've been lurking around the forum a while it's time I introduced myself. I will be sleeved on June 24, 2009. I'm so encouraged and so grateful for an opportunity to embrace wellness and good health again.
I haven't been obese all my life but the last 10 yrs, the warning signs were there. I was just thick and lovely. Then can some tragic episodes in my life that shut me down and turned me around in the last 3-5 years. It was approximately 3 years when ole' man Arthur aka (osetoarthritis) in the knees begin to set in. Due mostly to my lack of exercise and depression.
I did yo-yo diets, pills, weight watchers, etc.., Only to gain more and more throughout the years. I took a good look at myself
and got sick tired and starting my journey to see what surgery I wanted. The lapband (no offense to the bandsters) lol! was not
for me!. I know several people that have had the bypass and some succesful and some tragic. I wasn't too cool with the re-routing of the intestines. Again, (no offens intended) to any of the other great procedures out there. We are talking about "my story".
Upon my search for surgery, as I knew I had gone to far and osteo was killing my knees and back was hurting all the time. I didn't think that I couldn't do it the biggest looser way. I'm just in a state of emergency aka (Pain), Also, that is my personality.
A blessing for me, I ran into a long time friend who was seven months out from the VSG sleeve. She had lost 76 pounds and
encouraged me to at least research the sleeve. I had never heard of it. That was in September 2008. I you tubed, googled and
www. the sleeve sooooooooooooooo much. I was sorta obessed yall.......lol!
After preparing myself mentally first for the drastic change, I then began the mental and financial search.
Bless me Lord!, My girlfriends surgeon was highly recommended and affiliated with my Dr and hospital. Thank you Lord!
Oh, wait a minute. .................he accepts my insurance. Ever since then all systems were go. I saw him for the first time in April and got all my test out the way. Then here comes H.PYLORI grrrrrrrrrr I was crushed. I treated for the H.Pylori and am now ready for surgery 6/24.
I thank God for my girlfriend being so open and honest about her journey (yeah, a lot of folks won't share the surgery and I fully
understand). Thank God she did.
Well, I think I took you pretty much on my journey! Now it is time for me to get my posting on.....................
Godspeed, Peace & Blessings to all!
