I never had a weight problem until I had a hysterectomy in 1982.  I suddenly gained 80 pounds within 4 months time and have been that way ever since.  Also, my hair became very thin.  I've been on every diet known to mankind, and have seen many, many doctors who never offered a clue as to why this would suddenly happen to me, including the endocrinologists I've been to.  All of my blood tests always came back normal.  I decided to take a drastic measure and had weight loss surgery in 1990.  It was a huge step for me.  The surgery went smoothly, but the results did not happen.  I did not lose the weight I needed to, and have just continued to gain.  I've lost more weight and gained more weight since 1982, that I'm sure I could win a prize for.  Now I'm up to my heaviest weight ever and have been scheduled to have a revision of my current bad surgery to the RNY.  I have nothing physically wrong with me - just fat, and getting older by the minute.  I've searched for 10 years to locate a surgeon who I could trust to "fix" me.  Living in rural Southern Oregon doesn't allow for the most up-to-date medical awareness for my type of past surgical problem.  I've been to a gastroenterologist who was the only one who could possibly help me, and I give him credit for doing that.  I've had to have several endoscopies throughout the years to open the area between the pouch and the stomach so I could eat without vomiting.  It's been a long road to have  gone through all of that and still remain overweight.  Hopefully, the RNY will provide the healthy level of activity I need and the weight loss to go along with it.
