Well I was a scrawny kid and was a skinny teen. I never thought I would have to face the problem of obesity! I ate like a horse and most of my teen years was spent going to the local fast food joint and grabbing the biggest sack of fries and Dr. Pepper I could get and that was my staples for several years. But, I also smoked. I started at the young age of 17 and continued until i was 41 when I got smart and quit for my first grandchild's birth. THEN came the lbs. I went from a size 5-7 to a size 14 in just a matter of months and then got so depressed I just kept on going. Before I knew it I had blossomed into a size 18 and stuck between 18 & 20 up until now. I had researched the Lap band procedure for several months and finally decided it was the way to go after many many failed attempts at just about every kind of diet program, pill, club etc. I was now on antidepressants, high blood pressure meds, high cholesterol meds and also had sleep apnea and have to sleep with a c pap machine.
OMG what had I done to my healthy happy and thin self. So I found a fairly reasonable priced lap band procedure located in Tijuana Mexico of all places. I have blue cross blue shield and they will not pay one red cent toward the life saving procedure so I had to get a loan to have this done.
My Hubby and I flew to San Diego and were taken to the Bajanor Clinic in Tijuana. It was a very scary site at first. I liked the people alright and everything seemed OK but I still wish I could have found Dr. Carlos special priced lap band before I went to such an extreme.
I went in weighing pre op at 242. I weighed 236.9 at the hospital. That was on October 17, 2008 and today Nov. 5, 2008 I am down 15 lbs and looking forward to my 6th week check up and getting my first fill.
Well that is the beginning of my journey. I cried, hurt and thought i was starving to death the first few days but after the initial shock and getting back to my own home I started to see a little light at the end of the tunnel. I plan on doing my best to keep this blog up to date on my progress and also am going to try and get more pics on here. I am so thankful I found this support site. Good losses to all of us!
