6 Weeks Post Op
Dec 17, 2012
So everything went smoothly until I tried soft and solid foods, I have had the foamies at least a half dozen times!!! My own stupid fault of course....eating too fast, not chewing enough.
Had one night in ER too, with a bowel blockage.....NOT FUN!!!!
Other than that the weight is coming off rapidly!! 38 pounds down since surgery and 70 pounds since first consult!
Surgery and more.....

Had surgery Monday November 5th at 7:00 am, pre-op weigh in was 293.4 lbs. Gotta say that in spite of the pain, the whole experience was wonderful!! The staff in the pre-op unit are great, post-op took great care of me and on the surgical ward I think they were all angels!!!
Worst experience?....Catheter removal!!
Released from Hospital on Wednesday November 7th in the afternoon after setting records for the number of laps in a day
Thursday morning I did something wrong because I was vomiting, all the while hugging a pillow, only lasted for an hour or two but not pleasant.
Repeat EGD today

Had one of the required classes tonight, "Mindful Eating". This was very interesting and enlightening and a good starter for learning what to look for in foods we can eat post op and also a first look at the post op meal portion size and content.
As I've learned from OH, all plans are different and this one is too but not drastically.
Found it interesting that some of my classmates had started the pre-op diet prematurely in order to maximize their weight loss and prepare for life post op.
Next step is this Friday October 5th when I have the EGD.
Date Change

Still have at least 4 appointments to get through prior to surgery, 2 classes, the EGD and pre-op testing, so even though surgery has been delayed, I think that the time will pass very quickly.
My next step now is to start to prepare for life after surgery, which means a little shopping and protein testing.
