awe.. thank you... having just completely emptied my pouch after what I THOUGHT was a good dinner of a reasonable amount (1/2 the amount I had for breakfast, that is a blessed compliment. I am still 10 lbs away from target but at this point, that is not a worry. at this point I am grateful for being alive and healthy. for being completely off medication. my life is a do over. I have a grand baby on the way and I will be there to help raise him. what a blessing!

I am finding myself drawn to temptation. yesterday it was cheesecake. I know that it is a stress mechanism. my daughter has announced that I will be a grandma on Valentines Day 2007. I was really working towards the title 'hottie' not 'grammy' and so this was a bit of a surreal experience. my weight is not coming off as quickly now. adding 2 miles a day on the stationary bicycle. wondering what in the world I am going to do as a grammy when I am still planning my youngest 5th birthday party this month. every day I wake up and resolve to stick to the basics, lean meat and leafy green vegetables, but each day it is as difficult as a drunk resisting that drink. If I stay home and hide in the house, I am okay, other than those cornbread muffins calling my name, but I go out and the billboards are everywhere, the signs are all over, fast food, yummy food, gloriously quick and tasty food, just pull in and EAT ME! I know that I would do better if I could drink more, but every sip hits like a lead brick on my stomache/esophogal flap. I have researched and pedialyte and powerade are too high in calories/carbs, so I am looking at seltzer water or coke zero.

I am doing fantastic! each day is a learning experience on what I can and can not eat, when and what I can eat together, but over all, it has been really really successful. Thursday I got my staples out, that was not pleasant, but it is over now. Friday (9 days post op) I took the boys for a walk, made it 2 miles and drank 24 oz of water, that was really good for me. I can usually drink 1/2 oz at a time, each 10 minutes. Saturday (10 days post op) I was fortunate that my husband did not go on his 60 mile ride with his biking buddy, so we loaded up the water bottles, packed lunches, and set out. we stayed in the subdivisions, using a long greenbelt part of the way to get in 9.2 miles, the last 1 miles was the hardest for me. my original goal was 8 miles and I should have stuck to that, but I went adventuring a little bit and had a harder time getting home. started teaching the boys to stop and sip every mile, so that they do not get dehydrated. we saw turtles, blue heron, squirrels and a very nice playground. I rested the remainder of the day, I consumed .25 oz of beef for breakfast and .5 oz of pork for brunch and .5 oz of pork for lunch, dinner was 1 oz of salmon. late night snack was some artichoke leaves. total calorie intake this week has been ranging from 20 calories (Thursday - Tuesday) and 100 calories the rest (Wednesday - Saturday). I will continue with a 100 calorie days for another month. I had 4 sips of my daughters lemonade (non carbonated) last night, and had a horrible dumping reaction. that was a deeply religous experience in the bathroom. total loss since March 5th: 43 lbs.

today was my first day of official solids and of course I messed up completely at breakfast. word to the wise. 1 oz means 1 oz, not 1.125 ounce. NEVER do that again. it was two slices of turkey lunch meat. one slice, that is it, then top off with veggies. lunch was .75 oz of turkey and .25 oz of mushrooms, sliced up julienne and eaten with chop sticks. MUCH BETTER. and the head hunger goes away with the solids.

Hi Katherine. Congratulations on your surgery! I just had mine on May 30th. I haven't gotten over the feeling of exhaustion. I guess my body is having a hard time adjusting to what it believes is a lack of food! Good luck!

I am back home, post op. With a little help from liquid Tylenol with codeine, doing okay. yesterday was pretty bad, felt downright wretched. today I think is the turning point, feel like getting on the computer, first time since Wednesday, so you know I had to be pretty bad off to not even turn it on for two days. I am told as long as I keep moving around that I will get better, so that is what I am doing. keep the prayers going, they are working wonders.
