I've been on a liquid protein diet since April 12th.  At first it was hard, but now it's pretty easy.  So far, I've lost a few lbs since starting the diet and have not cheated once.  Something I'm really proud of!

As you may know, I'm scheduled for surgery on Tuesday the 12th of May.  As the date grows near, the reality of surgery is beginning to consume my thoughts.  I am nervous and afraid of the unknowns of the procedure, and of it's outcome.   

My head is swirling with numerous thoughts.  One is "Go ahead and cancel the surgery... you've been heavy all your life, why change now?".  Another is "You've been able to lose some weight on this liquid diet, just stay on it until you lose the rest".  After thinking about it all weekend long, I guess it comes down to plain old common sense...  sure I've lost weight on the liquid diet, but over the years I've lost weight and always put it back on, plus some... so why would this time be any different?  And YES, I've been heavy all of my life, but why not change that now? 

So, I'll forge forward with the surgery and will begin a new journey.  One that will fill the remaining chapters of my life with love, health, happiness and success.

Thanks to everyone on OH for the laughs, kindness and most of all, your support.  I don't think I would have made it this far without all of you!

I received a call from my surgeon's office this afternoon informing me that I have been scheduled for RNY surgery on May 12th!  I am so happy that all of the consultations needed to get approved are over, as well as now having a date to focus on.

I start an all liquid protein diet on April 5th, and will remain on it until my surgery date.  I'm sure it's going to be hard, but I'll manage. 

I'll make sure to post more frequently from this point forward.

I called my insurance company today to verify they had received the pre-authorization request from my physician.  They informed me that they had received it, and approved it the same day!!!  HOORAY!!!  My surgeon said that this is the quickest she has ever seen them approve the surgery. 

I am really excited and looking forward to getting the remaining consultations completed so we can schedule the surgery.

WOO-HOO!

Thought I'd add a post to let everyone know that I've completed my psychiatric evaluation.  I passed!!  WOO-HOO!!  They are sending their recommendation to my surgeon.  I also had my cardiac consultation today.  The EKG showed no signes of trouble, but he doctor felt it would be best if I had a treadmill test since I haven't had one in over 10-years.  I'm scheduled for that tomorrow.

I have four additonal consultations to complete (Nutritionist, Gallbladder scan, EGD and an ultrasound of the veins in my legs).  Once those are complete and my surgeon receives approval from my insurance company, I'm good to go!!

I can't wait until I can have the surgery and start my journey to wellness.

So, I have now attended the initial "seminar" with the weight loss surgeon I have chosen.  I also had my first appointment with her.  While my surgeon is really young (she looks like she is 30 years old, at the most!), I really like the way she presents herself.  Very professional, and knew/understood what I was talking about.

The next steps are to get all of the required tests completed while my physician gets my insurance approval in place.
