Well I just came home from seeing Dr. Rossi for my initial consult, and he thinks he'll be able to do a lap RNY. 
I am excited. 
Other than that I really didn't learn anything new, just now I have to go to other appointments that they set up for me, then I will know if I am approved for surgery, but since I was VERY quickly approved to see him through my HMO, I'm hoping it won't take long. They say it could be anywhere from 2 to 5 months before I have surgery.
Also my mom went with me to the appointment and she feels MUCH better about me having the surgery. She says that she now knows I realize that it isn't a quick fix and I know that I will have change my life forever. I ALWAYS knew that, but she didn't know I I knew that.
So long story short, I'm on my way to find my seat on the losing bench.....

So on the 4th of July, my older sister came out to my mom's to see the fireworks and spend the night. I told her at dinner that I am going to have WLS. She was kind of shocked and didn't really say much. Later that evening, my mom asked her if she wanted to learn about what I was going to do (I was in the next room on the computer, but could hear them). My sis said, "NO, I don't want to know anything AT ALL about it." That kind of hurt, but knowing my sis (who is also MO) and the issues she has with food and weight, it didn't bother me. THEN I heard my mom say, "yeah, I don't think Cindy should have it done, I don't think she really knows what she's getting into". I was seeing red, I was so mad I couldn't even talk. UUUGH! SOOO ANGRY!!
They knew i was mad, but I couldn't tell them why because I knew I would totally break down if I did. Well my sister finally asked if I was mad at her and I so wasn't. But I did break down and told her that I was mad at mom, that she hurt me because she seems to have NO faith in me, thinks I'm an idiot, and it was OK for my 2 sisters to have breast reduction surgery, but a stomach reducing surgery was just wrong!
Anyway, I calmed down and later that week my mom asked me (tentitively) "Am I still going with you to your surgeons appointment?" SO thats how we resolve issuse in our family and now all is well with my mom.

Well, I am currently in process to get surgery. I will probably have open RNY based on what information I have received from the surgeon. I'm scheduled to meet with Dr. Rossi (Peoria, IL) for the first time 7-13. I am so excited. I have thought, comtemplated and wondered about having surgery for almost 5 yrs now. Now that I have decided to do it; I just want it done! I am so excited about the program I am going through and the amount of support I will have. I want to update here as often as I can, before and especially after surgery. If all goes according to plan, I should be receiving a surgery date for October.
