Today I am 51 years old, and wondering how I have ever let myself get to this point.  I have tried so many different diets, but unfortunately have never been able to keep the weight off.  I have lived a pretty sedetary life, and cannot wait to start moving. and feeling better..not just weight wise but about myself.

My surgery is scheduled for January 15, 2008 with Dr. Gluck.  It is a long drive for me from Bristol, IN (2.5 hrs) but I truly feel Dr. Gluck is worth it.  I have been so impressed with him and his staff compared to what I have found around here.  Additionaly, I do not have insurance that covers this surgery, so this is an out of pocket expense.  Dr. Gluck is the ONLY Dr. I have found that offers a discounted cash price if you are paying for it yourself.  I think that sayes alot about him as a person.

I am one week into the liquid fasting and am dying!!  It is much harder than I thought it would be, and have actually eaten once.  I was scared to death I had sabataged my surgery, but the nurse said I should be ok if I am true to myself this next week.  I feel so much better being off sugar, its hard to believe once I got thru the withdrawl headaches.  Sugar free jello actually tastes wonderful to me now, it is very exciting.  No need to put sugar in my coffee anymore.  I have already lost  about 8 lbs, so that is exciting too.

I am starting to second guess myself about my success in doing this.  I have no doubt in Dr. Gluck, but because I have never been able to follow thru with dieting, I know it will be hard.  I want this so much, and am sure once I start dropping weight and loving the way I look, it will be much more reassuring!

Well, this is the best thing I have ever done for myself.  It has been a harder adjustment to my new life than anticipated, but SOOO woth it!  I am down 51 lbs, not losing as fast as some, but I am happy.  Going from a size 24 to fitting into a size 16 or 18 is an amazing feeling.  Actually am able to buy clothes at NORMAL stores for the first time in almost 30 years.  It is very humbling.  I need to start getting in more exercise, that is where I struggle with time management.   With summer here, it is an exciting time for the first time that I can remember.  All I can say is, go for the surgery and change your life and lifestyle.  Never look back again!

Keep me and all the others preparing for surgery in your prayers!!
