Question:
Breast reduction scheduled for 12/18...what to expect?

OK, its coming really fast. I have my breast reduction scheduled for 12/18/02. I am excited, but I have no idea what to expect. How much pain, do I need anything at home?? I do not know what size bra's to buy..doc says that I won't know until after surgery. So I can not do that. It is out patient surgery. What kind of restrictions did you have post op?? How long before you could drive?? So sorry, just have lots of quations. I will be asking my doc the same things, but wanted your suggestions and input. Thanks in advance!!    — Vicki L. In answer to your questions. You will not have to worry about a certain size bra, you will most likely be wearing a sports type bra cause that is all that is going to be comfortable. You can expect to be really sore and won't be able to do any lifting for about six weeks. Driving will be out of the question for a while as well as sex ( about six weeks also). Good luck I am sure you will be happy with the results and the sacrifices will all be worth it.

You will not be able to lift your arms above your head. Your body will tell you not to. It also hurts to sleep on your side. (I was a belly sleeper). Really your body will tell you what you can and cannot do. I did this before I ever thought about rny. It was the best thing I ever did. One thing, prepare yourself for how bad your boobs are going to look intill the brusing goes down. it just really looks so painful.if you want e-mail me if you have any questions, I had alot of weird stuff happen. nothing bad. just weird. good luck and enjoy your new boobs.

On October 17 I will be 6 months postop of a breast reduction. i was scared to death before i had it done but after words it was something that i would do again in a heart beat if i had to. i was in no pain at all. i was not able to lift anything after awhile but the restrictions are all up to you. i went to air force basic training only a month after i had surgery and was perfectly fine. don't buy a bra until after your surgery because you never know how its going to go. i lost ten pounds in two hours. you will do great i am sure. and don't be nervous.
