Question:
Am I doing something wrong? I am losing slow.

After two weeks I was down 18 pounds so the other 19 has taken me 6 weeks. I feel the same as some. One week I lose and the next week I don't. I seem to eat fairly often. The doctor tells me every two hours and lately I seem to be hungry enough to eat every two hours. Am I eating the wrong food maybe or what? I've tried to put at least one salad a day in my menu but and I joined a fitness club but it seems that I'm losing awfully slow. It's really discouraging when I hear and see that others have lost 60-70 pounds by three months. I read that you should lose about 20% in the first three months. For me that would be about 60 pounds. There is no way I'll lose 23 pounds in a month or even be close to that. Am I doing something wrong?    — Denise C. (posted on April 17, 2001)

Write down your intake, get your calories etc figured out. Talk w/ a nutritionist to see if there is something you should change. As far as working out.. you could be gaining muscle but losing fat.. this is not a bad thing.. but I imagine can be discouraging if you don't see pounds coming off. What is your work out routine?

I could be that your building muscle, you mentioned that you've joined a gym.take measurements... I'd maybe think about adding more protien to your diet, cutting out carbs, at least make sure you're getting adequate ammount of protein. Seems to me your weight loss is going pretty well. You may be slower then some, but do you have as much to loose?? besides 19lbs divided by 6 weeks equals over 3lbs per week, in my book that's great!!!!!! good luck

I have no clue what your starting weight is. It varies so much per person, there is no right answer. If you lost almost 40 pounds in 2 months that is GREAT! I lost something like 20 the first month then 10 the next then 9 the next then 22 the next then something like 5 the next. We are all different. The important thing is to work the plan cause the surgery works! Don't be so caught up with comparisons with other people. The bigger they are, the faster they generally lose at first. I think you are doing fine. Take your measurements, I bet you've lost a lot of inches already! Best wishes.
