Question:
COST OF PLASTIC SURGERY IN MEXICO

Hello, I actually have 2 questions. First, I am needing information on plastic surgeons in Mexico ~ prices, locations and such. Secondly, I am 1 year post op and am CRAVING strange smells, like rubber, and other odd smells. Hanve never done this before, has anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance. The Rosenstock Lieberman Clinic, Dr. Rashi Rosenstock, www.cosmetic-cr.com, [email protected], very very good. I know many people who have gone there. Prices? cheaper than the U.S., but can't tell you what yours would cost. Paula

I went to Dr. Eduardo Gongora at the Genesis Clinic in Rosarito Beach Mexico. I'm very pleased with my results. I had, lower body lift, breast lift without implants, inner thigh lift with pantyline incision, and lipon done in one surgery. Dr. Gongora discounted significantly for multiple procedures. If you would like information, email me. His website is genesisclinic.net (not .com). I'm very pleased with the results I received, the care I got, and the price I paid. I live in Texas and I saved a great deal of money by going to Mexico. However, I did a TON of research before choosing Dr. Gongora. It's so important to do your research.

Strange cravings can be caused by nutritional deficiencies. If you are not taking a daily multiple vitamin, you might want to add one. I'm not an expert though. Ideally, you should probably let your doctor know--either your pcp or surgeon. Best wishes, Sid

Hi. I always come out against any major surgery procedures "across the border." The reasons for this are that you have no insurance protection, no legal protection, no easy followup care, and a difficult time finding a local doctor who will care for any problems you may develop. There is also very little regulation of the hospital/clinic industry in Mexico, uncertain protection of the blood supply (in case of transfusion) and a higher chance of having "after-market" (i.e. nearly expired or older) medications used. As a University physician who received all sorts of patients transferred to the Medical Center here in Houston, I can personally attest to this. A facelift or nose surgery....maybe...a body contouring procedure in a weight-loss patient (who are already prone to fluid collections, etc) is a "ticket to trouble" if done across the border.

Michelle, As for the plastic surgeons in Mexico ... I can not answer that. But I will give you some helpful advice. Since you are only 1 year post-op, I would highly recommend that you wait at least one more year. Reasoning behind this is because you should be at a maintenance stage of your plan and also the majority if not all of the excess weight should be gone. Please just make sure that you are happy with yourself now before making any additional "surgical" changes.

I agree with the doctor. It isn't worth the cheaper price having plastic surgery in Mexico. You receive better care here and you are closer to home. Mona

I had my plastics done in Mexico...TJ as a matter of fact and I would make the same decision again. Whoever said that the savings isnt that great is way off target. I had a TT, Thigh lift w/lipo, breast lift w/ augmentation. I was quoted by several surgeons in the U.S. from 25k-30k for all procedures. I paid 8400. The aftercare was the best. I stayed over night and was constantly monitored. I was required to donate my own blood and had bloodwork done prior to surgery. My surgeon is very experienced with bypass patients and he and most of his staff speak flawless English. I had his work checked by a very highly regarded surgeon on the east coast and he said his work was excellent. I will be visiting my surgeon again for any further plastics I have. If you have any questions please feel free to email me!!! Tara
