Question:
A GOOD calorie INTAKE PER DAY AT 6 MONTHS OUT
IM 6 MONTHS OUT AND STILLLOOSING WEIGHT AND HAVE LOST ALREADY 121LBS, BUT I GET WORRIED THAT I EAT TOO MUCH. I PRETTY MUCH EAT THE SAME THING EVERYDAY AND TRY NOT TO TRY NEW THINGS DUE TO IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT. I HAVE MY VITAMINS WHEN I WAKE UP, THEN HAVE A SHAKE BY 730 AM THEN AROUND 9 AM I HAVE EITHER A LITE STRING CHEESE OR 1/2 CUP FRUIT, THE AROUND 12 ILL HAVE LUNCH CONSISTING OF MAYBE A HALF OF SANDWICH, OF A BONELESS CHICKEN PATTY W/CHEESE NO BREAD OR HALF THE BREAD FROM WENDYS. THEN AROUND 230 OR 3PM ILL HAVE A HAND FULL OF PEANUTS THE AROUND 5PM ILL HAVE MORE CHICKEN OR PORK OR FISH AND VIGGIES. THEN AROUND 8 ILL HAVE A SUGARFREE ICECREAM BAR. I NEVER ADDED UP WHAT IM EATING BUT ITS GOING OK FOR NOW. IS THIS TOO MUCH? SO MY QUESTION IS WHAT A GOOD NUMBER OF CALORIES PER DAY? — JOHNNNYRAY (posted on June 21, 2007)

First of all you can keep a record of your food intake at www.fitday.com to
see how much protein and calories you are consuming. My nutritionist said
that for the first year I would basically be eating the same amount of food
so my intake at 7 1/2 months has really not changed either. I think I am
still having less than 1000 calories a day. Your food intake seems fine
and if you are losing steadily (and it seems like you are doing very
nicely) you shouldn't add anything. Your appetite will come back slowly so
there is no need to speed things up. As the time goes by it will be harder
to get the weight off so you may as well try to do it as quickly as
possible. Stay away from foods that add empty calories since they will
become addicting before you know it!

Hi Johnny, thanks for writing. You don't have to do the calories to know
that you are doing ok. Men can eat more than women. I am assuming that I
am answering a man here. I looked on your profile, and you don't say and
there is no photo. So I am gonna have to assume. Anyway, Be sure you are
getting enough exercise, that is really key to weight loss after surgery.
You might lose a lot now, but if you are not exercising, it will come back
to haunt you. Don't delay, be sure you are walking and doing something to
build your stamina, not just watching what you eat. When your body adjusts
to the surgery, it will be bad for you if you are not exercising, and
making the correction at that point is much harder, because your body will
already begin a regain cycle. You have to train your body while you are
losing, or it is a bigger fight. It sounds like you are making good
choices for what you eat, and I like that you are careful about the times
you eat. It prevents hunger and you have made good choices. I say you are
doing great, just be sure water, protein and exercise are regular things in
every day. Be sure caffine and soda are out, you don't need those things.
Take care Patricia P.

You are so lucky! I still cannot eat that much, and I am gaining weight!
