Question:
Lightweights I need help!

I need some advice from the lightweights out there. I understand that we lose weight slower, but I am not sure what I should be hoping for. I have hit the 2 month out plateau. I am at 10 weeks and have lost 36 lbs. Is that pretty good. How much will it slow down now. The last 3 weeks I have only lost 1 lb and my energy is in the gutter. I am eating small meals and getting in protein and liquids although I need to up my exorcise. What kind of loss should I be expecting at this point? What did you do to get out of the first rut? Please help from lightweight perspective. Thanks!    — lynnredboy (posted on March 2, 2010)

I am not sure what kind of surgery you had or if it matters at this point. I have always found consistant exercise to help with keeping the plateaus down to a minimum and keep the energy levels up.

I found out that when I ate more beans, my weight loss got slower. Plus, I had to wait until I lost 75% of my weight to add complez carbs into my diet, and actually I really didn't add them until I was at goal. I try to eat only complex carbs, and not bread.

I had RNY in 12/07 and I had some plateaus that lasted 2-3 months. Many times I thought that was it for me, but because I took care of my pouch and stayed with the program, and continued to eat like I was supposed to, I would eventually drop. It took the full two years to lose all the weight, and I have actually recently lost 5 more lbs, because I had slipped and added some no-no foods, and got back on track. Age at Surgery 48. Height 5'2. Highest weight. 240. Surgery weight 224. Weight now 110# at 27 mo. out. Good luck hope this helped. **Moral of the story, just stay on track, eat what you should, protein first and you will be a success. (I never could exercise much due to arthritis in my back) Good Luck to ya!

If you engery is low you may want to run blood work for thyroid, B12, and Iron to be sure they are all good. If you are taking your vitimans you should not be so sluggish.Talk to your doctor about the engergy issue. they may be able to help.

I am at 50 pounds at 8 weeks. I hit a low energy period. It was about the time of a stall. I doubled my B12 and started taking fish oil. My doctor told me that I could have blood work done but I started feeling better. I think that exercise increases my overall sense of well-being.I know everyone is different.

Here's my experience. I started at 250 lbs and had RNY on 10/21/09. Weight Loss Progression: 10 lbs. = day 5 post-op 20 lbs = 2 weeks 30 lbs = 4 weeks 40 lbs = 6 weeks 50 lbs = 10 weeks 60 lbs = 13 weeks 70 lbs = 18 weeks I'm currently down 74 lbs at 19 weeks. I have followed the rules to a T. I've also been very conservative with what I eat and haven't done a huge variety of food - I'm sticking to what works well for my pouch and focus on protein first. I aim for 100 gms protein/day and 100 oz of fluid. I'm absolutely thrilled with my progress, especially since I was always a very slow loser my whole adult life. I feel like a new woman and I'm just loving this new life!!!! Good luck !! Follow the rules and the weight will come off!! -Nancy
