Question:
4 weeks out and have stopped losing weight can you give advice?

I had bypass on 2/12/09, I have lost 31 lbs and 2 weeks ago just stopped losing. I have had some issues with eating to fast or too much and have thrown up but still no weight loss. I am convinced that I messed up my pouch and feel like I do not have all the knowledge I need to succeed. HELP!    — traciegb (posted on March 16, 2009)

You would be surprized how much abuse it takes to "mess up" your pouch! We all expereince these stalls in our weight loss...and it usually happens at about 30 lbs or one month! So you are right on target! This is so normal! Remember when we used to diet and we'd be eating NOTHING and losing nothing and we thought we just couldn't lose weight? This is the EXACT same thing...only even then WE WERE just on a plateau as you are now... difference is that back then, we gave up and felt useless...NOW, you can't give up...you physically cannot eat what you did pre op even if you tried! Any time now you should begin to see a drop...The first year crawls by and at the end of the first year you will look back at this day as a thinner healthier person and give the same answer I am to someone asking the same question! YES you will! It happens...relax...Keep trying to stay on track and you will lose your weight...Try to work on your eating style...it's going to take a while to adjust! But you are not done yet sweetie! Give yourself at least a year! Maybe even more...

HI--good for you. I had bypass in May 08. I have lost 85 pounds. Three times I went at 21-60 days without losing weight. I just kept doing the right things. Jane

You're doing really well. There's one thing that you've got to remember: you're losing really fast and your body has a platau to catch a breath. By staying the same for a week or so, your body is preparing to start losing again. Just keep up the work you're doing.

Hi, Tracie. Seriously, sometimes when you are not losing weight, you are losing inches. I suggest taking measurements now and then. I do think it is your body tryibng to catch up with your weight loss. Patience isn't easy, but it helps. :) dana

Congraulation on your weight lost! I had my surgery on 2/26/09 and I lost 20lbs in one week.I am experienceing the same thing as you.I am eating certain foods,in which I thought I was eating too fast.I have thrown up too and after throwing up I went and weigh myself, thinking I had lost some weight, but I had not!But when I got dress for the morning I notice that my pants and sweat shirt was too big for me.I said to myself that I was at a point where I was losing inches instead of pounds, which was just fine with me.That really showed me that this tool is really working for me and I am doing the right thing. So dont worry, because everything will fall in place for you.Remember patience is a virtue and everything will be alright!

oh honey, you havent stretched your pouch. i thought the same thing. i am 10 weeks post-op rny also and i hit a few plateaus. they are normal and will pass. just keep up what your doing and it all will work out. your body has to have time to adjust to the major changes it is going through. just sit back and take it one day at a time..thats what ive had to do.

Congratulations on the weight loss. Don't panic over the scales not showing weight loss remember to look at the non-scale victories like the way clothes fit.

Hang in there. My RNY was 2/05/09 and I have lost 31 lbs and for the past week nothing. I keep on going and STILL trying to get in all the pills, liquids and protein. My sister tells me it will all come off in time. Then I realized our bodies have gone through a major trauma and it has to catch up to all of it. We are going to do fine!!!
