This surgery is the RNY. I called the number today to talk with the people to find out more about the surgery. The person I was talking with wasn't very knowledgeable (sp) sorry). They do have a nice pricing plan though. If you pay 1,000 up front they will do the surgery. You will then owe about 5,000. I think that it needs to be paid the first year post op. Which to me seems unlikely that most people would be able to due this. pokie

The only place I have ever heard of doing the RnY with micropouch is the one in Michigan that you gave the url of. There are several people who have had surgery there on this mailing list at e-groups: ossggreatlakes. Go to e-groups and join that list, and you will be able to meet a few people and ask them how they like their micropouches.

I live in Mi, and I have had the awesome Dr.Sapala give me the micropouch. They are the best team of doctors that any- one could have!! Dr.Sapala has this energy, and is honestly thrilled that he can do this for people! I FULLY recommend him and his partners! I've had no problems, and no vomiting.

I had my micropouch done on 1-17-02 with Dr. Wood. It is wonderful! Yes, our pouches are smaller, but they use the fundi muscle at the opening of the stomach- we are lucky enough to have 3 layers of muscle encircling our precious pouches to ensure that they will not stretch out. Dr Wood , and Dr. Sapala have done over 1800 micropouch surgeries without having to go back and redo even 1 pouch- that's a pretty darn good track record in my opinion. I wanted the sturdiest stomach money could buy, because like 99% of MO patients didn't really trust myself with a pouch that I would run the risk of stretching out one day. I only want to do this surgery once in my life!! If anyone has any questions about the micropouch please email me, and I will be thrilled to tell you all about it. As far as the other poster complaining about somebody not too knowledgable trying to answer questions at Dr. Wood's office- Oh well! I bet it ocassionally happens in all offices at one time or another....
