Hi, I'm 14 weeks post up.. I had the bypass on 6/12/12 and was very sick for over 2 months.. It's been about 3 weeks that I can actually say I feel normal again and been eating and drinking right.. Thankfuly I been able to tolerate everything I have tried so far.. I have lost over 70 lbs in 14 weeks.. I am dying to eat a fish taco and I would like to know if I am able to eat raw cabbage? The sooner the answer the better!! Thanks in advance!    — Wint3r04 (posted on September 26, 2012)

I don't think I would chance that heavy of a raw vegetable just yet. Call your doctor to find out though.

I don't know anyone who don't have problems with raw cabbage, however it depends on the type of surgery you had, a lap band type you should be fine as long as you chew it very fine, but if you had a Roux en-Y (distal), you will always have problems with raw or cooked cabbage, mainly a excessive amount of gas, that will cause pressure and if you had a altering type surgery like a Roux en-Y (distal), this extra pressure can cause problems. I would try a very small amount and see what it does, then a few days later ( at least three or more) try a little more, but remember you do not eat as much as you use to so don't over do it. IF YOUR NOT SURE ASK YOUR DOCTOR!
