THIS IS IN RESPONSE TO THE QUESTION. I AM DOING DIFFERENT TYPES OF PROTEIN DRINKS AND BARS AND THEY ALL HAVE AROUND 2-3 GRAMS OF CARBS (REALLY NOT MUCH) AND I HAVE BEEN TIRED ALL DAY LONG. HOPE THIS HELPS. (CHRISTY)

You know a good place to research protein and it's effects on the body is at www.atkinscenter.com While, I know you are not on the "atkins diet", in essence it is kind of the same thing. High protein and low carbs are the atkins diet. Anyway, they have a lot of useful research on their site regarding protein and carbs and their effect on you. One thing I do know is that once you start to increase your protein intake, that some people feel weak or tired the first week or two, but once you get past those couple weeks, then you are much more energized. I hope this was helpful in some way.

How are your labs? B-12 deficiencies are common in post-ops. Your decrease in energy could signal a B-12 or even iron deficiency. I'd have those checked, if you haven't already.

How many carbs are you eating a day? I know the mantra is all protein, barely any carbs, but sometimes that can in effect make you feel tired and weak. So maybe you are eating too few? I used to be a major carb eater pre-op, and post-op eating all meat and cheese and beans, etc. made me feel lightheaded b/c I wasn't used to it. I know you're 6 months out- but maybe just b/c you increased protein an dgetting less carbs this could be the case. Your body will adjust though, so I wouldn't be too worried. Goodluck to you!
