I had open rny and had severe pain for at least a week, if not more. The pain was from gas though. My doc attributed it to me being open for several hours. I wouldn't think that laposcropic surgery would have the same amount of air in your stomach cavity. I would suggest speaking to your sugeon.Make sure your surgeon is aware of all your symptoms.

Yes, you should call- but it is mst likely gas pains. I had them the same way. Get out and walk. Try to stop taking your pain pills. My surgeon told me they slow your system down and prolong the gas from leaving. I was told the faster I could do with out the pain pills the quicker I would heal and the gas would leave. Well, the painful gas anyway. I don't think we ever lose the over abundance of the toots we have now taken on.

Hi Jennifer and welcome to the losing side. I don't know if you had the open or lap procedure, but I encourage you either way to call your surgeon. I didn't have near the pain you describe, and maybe your pain meds are just not working for you like they should, but your surgeon needs to see you right away. My surgeon said to me that if I am not getting better every day that she needed to know. If you are not better every day then you need to be in touch with your surgeon and find out why. Take it slow and easy, this is a huge surgery and you need a huge recovery. Please let us know how you made out. Take care, Patricia P.

the best way to releave your pain is to force yourself to walk moore. the moore you walk the less pain you have . tats what made me stronger.. excercise. just walk.. good luck

Use this service. I am completly pain free, and feeling fantastic. Please don't suffer like this, do something about it. Take care my friend. Jean

You just had major surgery and so will hurt for a shile. It is hard for anyone to jusdge someone else's pain, though, and you should call your surgeon and discuss it with him. that is why you pay him the big bucks!

I went on a major walk 7 days post op because I was not feeling that much pain. I have a high tollerance for pain. I quit taking my pain meds after 4 days home. However, after my 45 min walk on day 7, I was in real pain and I had killer gas that I thought would blow out my windows in my house. After that spell of real bad gas I felt much better and did not have extreem pain. YOu have to sip the water, if you take a big gulp it hurts in your chest. I had burning on my stomach because I found out I am allergic to Laytex, I had blisters all over my stomach when I took off the bandages. You should call your doctor. You are on the loosing side, there will be allot of changes that you go through since this surgery. Good Luck BrendaBoo
