Question:
Has any one had the Open RNY in Mexico

I am self pay and was wondering what others have paid for the open Rny in mexico and what their experience was like with the docters and hospitals. How long you had to stay in Mexico and any other information that you might have.    — Melanie S. (posted on April 3, 2002)

Hi! I know trofie99 has had her surgery in Mexico and one other lady from texas I think,,,they had the same doctor. they both had good things to say. Hopefully, Jasmin (trofie99) will see this or you can e mail her. Good luck! PS All of your airfare and lodging costs plus the cost of surgery are tax deductible as long as it totals over 7.5% of your adjusted gross income.

Yes, I had LAP-RNY in Mexico by Dr. Rumbaut - You can read my profile or email me at [email protected] and I'll try to answer your questions if I can. I TOTALLY reccommend Dr. Rumbaut! The hospital was squeaky clean...well, you can read my profile I suppose, so I won't go on and on here. Good luck!!! Helen

I had my open rny in Ensenada Mexico with Dr. Alejandro Aguirre Wallace on 1-17-03. I was self pay and it cost me $6,500 plus airfare and hotel, etc. My doctor was great. He has a lot of experience and really cares about his patients. The hospital is small, but the nurses were very attentive and nice. (The only downside was the language barrier but I brought a english-spanish phrase book so we got by). I arrived on Thursday 1-16-03, had surgery on Friday, left the hospital on Monday and stayed in Ensenada until Thursday 1-23-03. It was great recovering in Ensenada. It is a tourist town - the weather was great - and I walked and shopped in the sun! (I'm from the midwest where it was below zero temperatures.) My doctor is a wonderful person. When I went home, he and his wife drove me to the airport in San Diego (about a 2 hour drive)! I had a great experience.
