Question:
My weight will not go down. I lost 80 pounds and now nothing. Help!!!!

I had alot of problems with my esophagus closing over. The last they stretched it to 18mm. They checked it two weeks later and it was down to 16mm. I have not been the same since they stretched it out the last time. I have also been under alot of stress. I have been stuck for about four weeks. Has it stopped working for me? Is there anything I should do to get it moving again?    — amytravis (posted on January 26, 2003)

You didn't mention how far post-op you were. Usually after 1 1/2-2 years the weight loss stops. And you are obviously having health issues, which can halt the process as well. But the mantra of losing more weight is ofcourse protein, protein, protein! Increase your protein and your water intake, as well as exercise and you should jumpstart it again. Goodluck to you, I hope you are feeling better and your problem gets fixed.

You had your surgery the day after I did and I'd say you've done remarkable well in six months! It's highly likely that right now your body is readjusting to the 80 pounds gone (congrats on that!!!) and needs a bit of time. If you are still doing the same things you were (protein, lots of good fluids, low-carbing, etc.) then keep it up. If your diet has changed now that you can eat more, you may need to up your exercise or change your eating to healthier things. it would be MUCH easier to answer your question though if your profile were up to date and you gave some idea of what you've been doing, are doing, etc. Good luck!
