That is definitely NOT too much food. I am just concerned that you might
not be getting quite enough protein. You are super compliant and good for
you!!!! Your weight loss is amazing and I hope that you are thrilled and
very proud!

I feel like a pig compared to that cause I eat so much more than you. I
wish I could be more like you but I cant do shakes anymore. They send me
to the little girls room in a flash. And besides, I need FOOD to start my
day. B-fast yesterday I had a cup of cheese grits and 3 pieces of bacon.
Lunch was a ham and cheese sandwich(toasted whole wheat) and a small bag of
baked chips. For dinner last night, I had 2 small slices of meat loaf,
butter beans(1/3 cup), green beans(couple of spoons full) and a tblspoon
full of mashed taters(my once in a while treat). I also had a small apple
and a cereal bar ( SpecialK-90 calories)for snacks during the day. I dont
have a clue as to the carb, protein and calorie counts because I'm not that
anal about it. But I'm down 140+ below goal and have not gained any
weight. I have maintained my loss now for 3 months. I weigh every day and
chart it so I know if my weight goes up. If I see an upswing, I'll cut
back. This has worked for me but I'm not telling anyone thats the way to
go. EVERYONE HAS TO FIND THEIR OWN WAY. It looks like your way has done
you right so I's say stick to it. You have done GREAT!! ~Sidney~ Open RNY

I agree with the first poster...you're probaly not getting enough protein
or even calories for being 13 months out....Have you ever added up your
calories for the day? How much water or liquids do you get in on a daily
basis...and what about fruit?
Also, have you checked in with the dietician connected with your
surgeon...to see food wise how you're doing?
Do you ever snack on anything at all?

At 2 years post op, I have an atkins shake or slim fast shake steamed, I
like warm milk, I have a mid morning snack today it was 2 pieces of low
carb bread, lunch I have a smart ones truth about carb, then I will have a
mid afternoon snack usually yogurt, then for dinner I will have another
smart ones for my snack in the evening I have cheese. As you can tell I am
not a cooker what so ever. I need things that are 5 minutes or less to
cook. I want to make spaghetti, does anyone no where I can get some low
carb spaghetti noodles? Good Luck.

Original Poster Here-I snack on things like nuts such as pistachios or
almonds sometimes but I get too addicted to them so I'm cutting them
out-Yesterday I had 4 tiny pieces of sugar free almond clusters-believe me
I am not a saint-I fell off the wagon this weekend with cookies and I was
so disappointed because I was doing so well without that junk I also had a
slice of pound cake this past weekend-I cook alot and what started it was I
was baking a cake for my aunt and I had to taste the batter to make sure it
was the right everything-my body has been so used to not getting carbs it
started out of control cravings-so I am no longer doing sugar free candy
because that is just as bad as regular and still causes cravings-so now I'm
jumping back on to the saddle all the way-fruit makes me dizzy so I eat
most of my fiber from oat bran, veggies, and other things with a high fiber
content-I was definitely Miss Piggy this weekend-But it's okay because I
refuse to beat myself up over it-everyone falls sometimes and even if I
fall 100 times I will keep getting back up-I have 50-60 more lbs to lose
and they are coming off-I'm giving myself to the end of the year.

I am 14months post op and also getting concerned about eating too much, so
thanks for your question. My typical day is a protien drink and small bran
muffin for breakfast; lunch 1/2 sandwich; protien bar for snack sometimes;
supper is 2-3oz of protien with vege & carb, but portions are small. I
can tolerate larger amounts of soft foods like pudding etc. In the evening
I always have a slim a bear (unfortunately I can eat two of those but try
hard not to) My snack food is red licorece and can eat 1-2 servings of
these so I try not to buy them anymore. The problem I am dealing with is
not getting over confident that I will not gain weight as it seems no
matter what I eat I still lose??? I have read other posts on this false
sense of security so I am trying to be careful but so far I maintain and
still lose every 4-6 weeks. Down 155lbs RNY 11/02, at goal and very happy.

Victoria, I am 13 mos out, surgery was 2/10/03, and eat more than that, but
eat healthy and the key is I eat frequently. I'll eat a hard boiled egg
for breakfast, about halfway through the morning I'll have a piece of
fruit, for lunch I can't even eat a whole burger, but I might have a
quarter-half of a burger (if you like soy, try Boca Burgers, they are so
good!) with no bread. Then in the afternoon I will eat some kind of snack,
but it's not always protein. I am trying to change that but the carb
craving is worst for me in the afternoon. Then for dinner I'll have maybe
4 oz of meat, usually fish or chicken, and a 1/2 cup of veggies. In
between I consume more than 60 oz of water. I am always full when I eat
like this. You didn't mention any "snacks" between your
meals.........is that ALL you eat during the day? You should keep your
metabolism going by eating every 2-3 hours. I never hit a plateau until I
hit 160 pounds (that's 122 down). i just went through my TT 3/17. Good
luck!
