Question:
Want to have BR/Abdominoplasty at same time??? Safe or no?

Plastic Surgeon says that he thinks the risk go up too much to keep me under anasthesia for so long-but I want my breasts done and my tummy tuck-He said ultimately it will be my decision, I have seen numerous people having this procedure done at the same time-So what do you guys think?? BTW I just started a new job so I was going to wait for my 90 day probation to be up and then apply for short term disability during the recovery period-Is that possible???    — TotallyTori (posted on March 23, 2005)

Most safety issues are related to the PLACE you will have surgery and recover. I often do combined breast/body procedures but keep everybody overnight. Complications happen when little problems are left unattended and then become big issues. My personal opinion is that exyensive abdominal surgeries and all combined procedures are not safe to be done in an office or clinic-type facility. Please see http://www.med.miami.edu/communications/som_news/index.asp?id=197 Its an older article but this is a big issue in plastic surgery these days.

I had a full abdominoplasty, hernia repair and a breast lift at the same time and it took almost 7 hours with a 4 day hospital stay. I did great and recovery wasn't too bad either. Good luck to you

it is dangerous to be under antheresia to long. more importantly your are pulling in two different direction. down for the abdominalplasty and up with the up with the breast lift/ reduction.yes, people do combine surgeries, i wouldnt recomend those two together.

I just had both last week with no complications and a 2 day hospital stay. I was under about 5 1/2 hours. It sure has zapped my energy. I'm glad to have them both out of the way, but if I had it to do over I think I'd do them seperate. I had a lot less pain with my WLS.

I am pretty sure you have to work for 12 months to get short-term disability ans also to get family medical leave.
