Question:
Has anyone found they are losing too much weight,

and have gone far below their goal? How often does that happen, that the losing doesn't stop at a healthy weight?    — Holly R. (posted on October 21, 2002)

Holly...I am still far, far away from my goal, but having been on the AMOS Q&A answering questions for several months, I believe that it's quite rare indeed for someone to end up *far* below their goal. The losing curve flattens out the further you get from the surgery and what looks to be a pace that will get you well below your goal becomes an agonizingly slow pace that makes you wonder if you will ever get to goal in that 12-18 month "window of opportunity"...JR (open RNY 07/17 -96 lbs)

Holly, I have been on AMOS of almost a year now, and have only met 3 out og the 100,000 people on this site that have had that problem. I am sure that there may be a few more, but it is unlikely. And one of them has now at almost 3 years out has stabilized at a healthy weight. So, to answer your question, yes it can happen, but it is VERY rare. Good luck to you in your journey.

Holly, Hi I probably am not "FAR" below my goal weight but I am below it by about 30 lbs. I am 5'6, had RNY in November of 2001, and started out at 253 lbs.My ideal weight is around 145 lbs, my surgeon wanted me to stop between 135 and 150. My personal goal was 150. I now weigh about 115 lbs. I didn't exercise, or do anything to make the weight keep coming off it just did. I feel really good at this weight but most tell me I am too small, that I should try to gain some back. I eat whatever I want and I eat 4-6 times a day, so it's not like am not trying. Actually I want to maintain right about here which is what I am trying to do, but I won't complain if I gain a pound or two.

I don't want to lose anymore weight and have been eating more to maintain. Since my tt on 8/7/02, I've lost 15 pounds. Considering I had only lost about 5 pounds in the 2 months before the tt, I have NO idea why I've lost so much afterwords. He only took off about 4 pounds of skin. The rest of the weight has just come off on it's own.
