Question:
I am at 10 weeks post op and have been on a plateau since I started going to the gym

3 weeks ago. I'm concerned that I'm eating too much or the wrong things. an average day is 1 to 2 pc of a lite canned fruit, 1/2 to 1 cup of some kind of veggie usualt zuccini, 6 oz of some kind of meat usualy a lean ground beef and 1 to 2 oz of some kind of cheese. I have lost 52 lbs so far.    — Christine A. (posted on January 24, 2003)

Very simple you are not eating enough protein at all!!! You need protein to make your weight loss, try a protein bar, or shake..

I agree that you need to up your protein, especially if you are working out. Try supplementing with a shake or two a day. And increase your water-you need more protein and water if working out consistently. also keep in mind that by going to the gym, you are starting to build muscle which weighs a little more. Its not unusual to see a weight gain a few weeksafter starting an exercise/weight program. Have you taken any measurements? You will probably see some loss there. Also, plateaus are very common throughout the weight loss process and can take weeks or even months to get thru. It takes patience and vigilance to get thru. Just be sure that you are eating sufficient protein, getting in your water (not with or right after meals), lo sugar and lo carb and you will start losing again.

One reason you haven't lost weight since starting at the gym could be that you are gaiining new muscle...and muscle is more dense (weighs more) than fat. Perhaps you have lost a few inches, rather than a few pounds.

I agree with the previous posts and want to add that your body may need a little time to adjust to putting out that kind of energy while taking in so little, just keep it up and your body will realize it's okay.
