Hi, I am losing weight even slower than you. I had my surgery on the 20th of September with an initial weight of 331 lbs. I now weigh 277.3 to be exact. I do cheat, I will not lie about that. My mind thinks that I need the chocolate. I do not count the protein however, I always focus on the protein in the meals. I really do not drink with my meals and I do not drink any soda. However, I feel working the night shift has really effected my weight loss. I wonder if there is any hope for me. I just feel like giving up.

I had my surgery on Dec. 11, and am almost 3 months out - I've only lost 53 pounds, and I started at 305...So I'd say we're about on the same track...I too feel like I'm losing slow, but everyone keeps assuring me that I'm okay as far as how much I'm losing. I am geting in tons of water, but not nearly as much protein as I need. As long as I'm losing weight I'm okay with it - I don't like meat or protein supplements, so I usually only get in about 35 grams a day (from eggs/cheese/dairy stuff) I'm curious too though, have people usually lost more than this? Btw- does age have something to do with how slow/fast you lose? I'm 19 and my surgeon's nurse said It was good that I was a "slow loser" because it'd be more likely that my skin would be able to shrink better. Anyway - good luck with your weight loss, and I hope stuff speeds up for the both of us! hehe. :)

I will assure you that you are doing just fine. I know it is hard not to compare yourself to others because I am bad about it myself, but if you can, just try to remember how hard it would have been to lose 70 lbs before surgery, then remember that you didn't gain this weight over night. You can always find someone who is doing better than you but keep looking and you will find someone not doing as well.

ANY weight loss is great. Re-evaluate your meals. Do you need to reduce some carbs? Up your water. What is the ammount of exercise you are doing? If none just try walking a bit per day. You GOT to try to get that protien in some way some how. Your body needs this. I think you are losing pretty well actually. Not everyone loses the same. Cheryl..don't give up....maybe try those detour bard everyone is talking about. This may replace your chocolate and give you more protien....this surgey does not fail...we can fail the surgery...try the detour bars. see if that works. God bless Jamie

I am 11 months out and have only lost 84 lbs. I think your loss is great. I have been stuck for 2 months and have started eating more (was only getting in 600-800 a day) to see if this will speed things up. I just don't want to eat. I am really depressed about my loss. Keep up the great work.

70lbs. in 5 months is completely right on track! That's excellent weight loss- you should be proud of yourself!! I lost the exact same amount as you at 5 months, now at 9 months post-op I have lost 100lbs. I lose 10lbs. each month pretty consistently (lost 30 the 1st month) and now I am 10 lbs. away from my goal in less than a year. I never would've imagined this happening so fast :) Goodluck to you- you're doing great!

That is way faster that me. At this point I would be grateful for any weight loss. I am five months out and only lost 17 pounds. So know that lots of people struggle to loose the weight even with the help of the surgery.
