Question:
Has anyone used Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis, IN?

I was looking through surgery dates & haven't found anyone using Wishard Hospital in Indy, IN. Can someone let me know about there experience with this hospital & Dr. Gomez if possible.    — Paula G. (posted on January 5, 2003)

Remember, just my personal opinion, but I would DEFINATELY use St. VINCENT, Carmel.....that is where I had my surgery, great surgeon. Surgery was 8/8/02, down 75 pounds, LAP RNY. I was at Wishard visiting just once. Not very clean. Just check out everything thoroughly before you decide. Let me know if I can give you anymore info. Good luck.

I will hopefully be having my open RNY sometime in Feb with Dr. Gomez. Dr. Gomez is head trauma surgon at IU WISHARD. I have attended his key program and had a chace to meet his staff and had my consult with him, and visited 2 of his patients that have had Rny, and the rooms I visited were very clean and infact one of them was in the newly remodled wings her room was VERY nice and clean. I used Dr Gomez at Wishard and I think he did an excellent job. Check out my profile for the stats. The nurses at Wishard were also wonderful. One nurse even scratched my back while I was on morphene (lol). I guess you lose all pride when you have a morphene itch. Anyway, I had Lap RNY and it has been a wonderful success. Hi, I was just released (again) from Wishard. Praise--Dr. Gomez, Lorie & Jane (his nurses), and his residents are absolutely top-notch. Caring, knowledgable, considerate beyond call. Other nurses--most very good, with some exceptional. Having to wait in ER (hopefully you won't have any complications and have to do this) is the pits, but so is every ER. I have been in both St. V's (both Indy and Carmel), and I would say Wishard is equal to them. I would choose Wishard because of Dr. Gomez and his staff though for this procedure. Best wishes.
