Question:
Weight loss stopped?

I had my surgery 14 months ago (RNY). I started at 360 "ish" and have lost about 95 pounds. However, I haven't lost anything in the last 3 months. To be honest, I feel I have stretched my pouch and know I haven't always ate the right foods. What do I need to do to get back on track. Has anyone had a revison this soon after the operation? I still need to lose another 100 pounds - is it too late?    — Rachel R. (posted on December 20, 2002)

Up your protein intake. Cut WAY back on the starches. Notice I did not say carbs. You do need some fruits and vegetables (they are both mainly carbs) in your diet. Drink, drink, drink that water. Get some kind of regular exercise.

Gar is right! Focus on that protein and the only carbs you should focus on are fruits and vegetables. I rarely eat potatoes, pasta or rice. If I do get the "urge" then I eat maybe 1 or 2 tablespoons at most...of rice it's less than that. I have only recently begun to eat bread...like 1/4 of a slice at a time. Wholegrain crackers are your best bet. I think you can definitely get this tool to work for you again. I've read profiles of others who've done it. Best of luck to you and Merry Christmas! - Anna LAP RNY 7/3/02 -98lbs.

Rachel, Before you talk revision, you need to make an honest attempt at doing all the right things. Are you following all the pouch rules: lots of protein, low carb and sugar, lots of water, no drinking with or right after meals, exercising? If you are honestly following these rules and cannot get the weight started again, then talk to your doctor, (do you know if you are transected?) but I think that if you do follow the rules, it will start up again.
